Now this book was definitely better than the first one. I enjoyed it more and I didn’t have as much problems with it. There were some but mostly minnor.

Our MC Kailani was clever, quick-witter, mature and talented. And I loved that she was character who loved books since we can relate to that. However I had again - as in the first book - problem with the romance. It was not that bad as in the first one but I would say she still went to that I love him phase too quickly to my liking. Especially when she knew about Raife what she knew about him she should at least try to see just friendship for a little longer. She always hoped and was hurt by his actions when he was constantly telling her it’s their friendship he values.

Other thing was her gift. The first one we discovered. I would love to know more about it cause I feel it was not explained properly. We were told it was rare gift and we were able to grasp how it works but I want to know what more there is to it. Like can she also use it to manipulate others or why is it rare?

Talking about Raife - he was fine character. Had to go through lot of hardships from young age so his trauma and fear are understandable. What I’m not sure about is if I can say anything else about him cause apart from his trauma and wanting revenge what did he show us about him?

Again is this phenomenal writing and plot but it is a quick cheesy romantasy and makes me happy so that is why it is 4 stars!

I had higher hopes for this book than the last one, but they fell short. Again, there was no real depth to any of the characters. I didn’t feel connected to them or the story while reading due to the feelings and emotions displayed being surface level.
Because we don’t go into depth with Raife’s guilt and grief over his family’s deaths, it just briefly mentioned, him holding back from loving Kailani and keeping her close feels superficial and lacking understanding, considering he goes back and forth for the ENTIRE book.
Like with the last book, there was a battle scene, and while this one was a little bit better, it still didn’t hold much action or detail and didn’t feel like an actual fight.
Also, we spent the whole book building up the romance and tension between the main characters for the confession of love, just for it to happen at the very end and then the book ends abruptly.
Something else that also bothered me was the use of different kingdoms for the four seasons. After it was used in ACOTAR, it just feels over used in more recent fantasy books.
I understand that because of the books being relatively short, that it needs to be set at a fast pace, but with these books, it’s too fast. I fully believe if they were about 5-600 pages and filled with more detail and depth, it could easily be a 5 star series.
