This one was alright, not as good as the others. While I did love the characters they felt a bit hollow and underdeveloped. Raife’s distance was something I understood very well, but then in the last chapter he just did a 180 and idk I think if he was part of the battle or saw Laini die that could’ve explained the 180 but instead it was just like nah mate I can’t fake this any longer. Idk it felt weird to me. Then again with all the unnecessary info dumping; best friends who we have never heard of and never will again, college information of characters who are only there for 1 chapter and never heard of again. I mean it was amusing to me because I immediately recognized it for being unnecessary pagefillers but it would have been nice to see some more developed characters.

It was an okayish read. The pacing was very fast and the world kind of shallow. Leia Stone's books always intrigue me on the first 100-200 pages and then I get bored :(
This was my second book by her and I ate it up. It was so good. I cannot wait to read more. She is an automatic buy for me. She does Fantasy so well there is not too much worldbuilding to make it overwhelming and I am addicted to it. I need more ASAP.
Looks like this series is about different Kings and finding love or at least falling into love. This book ap was ok, but not enough spice or strong enough storyline to keep me interested. I won’t listen to the last 2

This book was so so good and I was much more hooked than I was with the first one. Raife’s story was painful but Kailani was much more patient and kind than I would’ve been if I was treated like her. This book has rekindled my excitement for the series and I look forward to the next one. (Also, love the illustration.)
