I wanted to like this more than I did. I didn't find it very engaging, but the illustrations are wonderful and I still am a big Jason Chin fan.
informative

A very colorful book all about evolution. If you agree with that, then you will like this book.

An introduction to evolution and island formation.

I am a big fan of Chin's previous titles but this is definitely my favorite. It shows the life of a volcanic island, and gives a perfect explanation of natural selection for children with illustrated examples. The source materials are thorough and offer information about Darwin. Love this book!

Lovely drawings illustrated the formation of Galapagas Islands millions of years ago and the life that migrated to them. A simple explanation of how the animals on each island has evolved to survived each island's unique conditions. Beautifully done.

Beautifully told story of the Galapagos islands. The illustrations were gorgeous. Read for grad school for Info Books for Youth.

Beautiful, fascinating, well-researched as all of Jason's books are!
informative fast-paced

In a magical way, Jason Chin writes a biography of an island. Mostly small illustrations with large font writing in between introduce the creation of a Galapagos island, and the arrival and development of animals and plants. It's hard to believe how many animals are introduced, alongside the theory of 'survival of the fittest'. At the end of the book are explanations of Darwin and his theory, as well as tectonics and the volcanic creation of islands; also an author's note. The end papers at the front feature animals and their name, and the end is an excellent map.

The information is fascinating and the illustrations are beautiful.
