Too much of a teenage cliché of "nobody understands me" paired with a cliché mystery novel. As far as mystery novels go, this one was fairly predictable and I found myself skipping a page or two to get closer to action and not missing out on anything. The "twist" was the only good part of the novel, but it was not as big of a twist as I was hoping for. I would recommend this book to a young adult reader, not somebody past their teenage years. I'd imagine younger audiences would enjoy it more!

I’d really like to give this 3.5 stars. I was captivated through the first 80% of it but was ambivalent about the last 20%. It certainly kept me reading!

this was a very good 4 star mystery, a little bit predictable but well done and well written. i live for multiple perspectives, it kept me hooked the whole way through. i will say: richard is way too good for tessa.

A bit slow for me. I think the book could have been somewhat shorter because there was too much useless information. The character development was great, but the some of the characters were not needed

Well I wouldn't say that this book was bad but it definitely wasn't great. If you're looking for a book to read at the beach or on an airplane this will keep you interested without making you think very hard. I like how this book is formatted with each chapter coming from a different perspective but at least one character
Spoiler Sam
was completely irrelevant. Overall I wouldn't want to read this book again but I wouldn't say I necessarily feel like I wasted my time reading it either.

I couldn't put this book down once I had a chance to read more than a chapter or two. I love fast-paced literary fiction. She is becoming one of my favorite authors.

Had I have not read and enjoyed What She Knew prior to reading this, perhaps I would have liked The Perfect Girl more than I did. But, in comparison, it is lacking the complexity, the character development, and fluidity of What She Knew. This was a quick thriller, with an intriguing ending, but too much superfluousness throughout--why did the relationship between her aunt and attorney happen? It added nothing to the story. And his illness? The unnecessary violent scene while she was in juvenile detention didn't seem to add either depth to her character or the plot. This was okay, though certainly not great.

This book is long, but it is a quick read. The story alternates the narrator between Zoe, a girl who had committed a crime but is now living her second-chance life, her aunt Tessa and uncle Richard and then also the solicitor, Sam. One of the discussion questions at the end of the book relates to the relevance of Sam as a narrator. I'm not sure I loved his storyline or how it related at all to the book. The mystery was interesting, but the story did stall at some points.
