Since Goodreads no longer trusts me to add a new edition when needed, I am writing this here. I listened to an audiobook, not an audio CD. But it's the right narrator, Dan Calley, so this is closer.

In a way, listening to them, rather re-listening to them, all back to back, I get to see a larger story unfolding. Added in with the Secret Histories books and the other series set in this universe, he has shown some thoughtful, in-depth worldbuilding.

I enjoyed this series fairly consistently right up until Just another Judgement Day, which I got through but it was a drag and I didn't enjoy. It didn't have the same element of gleeful pulp. Thought I'd try this one but I can't get into it and don't care about it.

I'm done with this series now, it was an enjoyable run but the ride stops here.

All change please, all change.

I bought this puppy brand new. and now they're coming in under-sized (book-club sized) hardbacks. Imagine how ANGRY I was with my dog when she knocked a glass of water over on it? $25 and she ruined it as a keeper. Then, the other night, I saw it at Big Lots for $5 -- and I had a coupon from on-line that anything I bought that weekend was 2-for-1. So, I got 4 of the books and this was one of them. Can't really beat $5 for 2 hardbacks.

I'd give this book 3 and a half stars if I could because I really enjoyed the book with the exception of the scene told from the perspective of Larry Oblivion. I liked Larry but his story could have been told much quicker and in a more interesting manner. It wasn't really needed to further the story of the book. One other issue I had with the book was that there were almost identical scenes in Just Another Judgment Day and this book.

This book was a turning point for John Taylor and the Nightside and it also set up for future events. There were also many surprises...Things are never as they seem in the Nightside.

I like the stories in this series but the "voice" drives me nuts. His way of speaking and the constant repeating of how bad the nightside is, and how you can find things there that you will find no where else in the world, yadda, yadda, yadda. It gets annoying after the first hundred times.
