this was soooo good! i think you need to know one thing or the other about communist theory for it to be easily understandable, but i think it is still quite accessible. having often heard about the importance of care work, this manifesto opened my eyes to a completely new view point to the way capitalism splits profit-making from people-making (that is, waged work from reproductive work), genders it, creates a hierarchy and refuses to pay for the latter. it very effectively explains the short comings of liberal feminism (which perfectly fits into neoliberal policies and only deepens thr exploitation of fintas elsewhere) and highlights the importance of an intersectional mode of action.

Estoy bastante confusa. Aunque estoy de acuerdo con la idea de que el feminismo tiene que ser interseccional, este manifiesto aboga por un feminismo que más que un movimiento por la igualdad parece una varita mágica para solucionar todos los problemas del mundo. Las feministas no sólo tenemos que encargarnos de nuestra lucha, si no que además, tenemos que luchar contra el capitalismo, el cambio climático, el racismo y cualquier otro problema que surja.
Todas las tesis de este manifiesto se resumen en : "la culpa es del capitalismo; hay que acabar con él". Y aunque es verdad que la explotación de la clase obrera es una consecuencia de este sistema y está profundamente entrelazada con el problema feminista, las autoras fallan en dar una alternativa. O por lo menos un método o esquema a seguir. ¿De qué sirve decir que hay que acabar con el capitalismo si luego en el epílogo vas a decir que no aportas ideas porque es una aventura muy ambiciosa y "lo hacemos y ya vemos"?
Tampoco tengo muy claro a quién va dirigido este manifiesto. Yo soy una feminista analfabeta: no tengo ni idea de teoría feminista más allá de lo poco que he leído en la universidad y lo que estoy leyendo ahora (y mis propias ideas); como alguien con casi cero conocimientos del tema, hay veces que el manifiesto se me atragantaba. Para alguien ya versado en el tema, no creo que el texto vaya a decir nada nuevo.

This was a fast paced book, with lots to think about. This is definitely a conversation starter and thought provoking book for anyone who considers themselves feminists... especially if they’re not in the 1%.
