dnf at 14% (pg 50) no hate to this book at all, it seems like a good story and i loved the ocd rep from the little i read! im just not up to a literature novel right now. but maybe someday ill revisit it.

i feel like i would have enjoyed it more if i knew any ounce of context about new zealand
but the last like 50 pages i really enjoyed, thought it was a bit slow in the middle but i liked the ending

It’s funny, chaotic and the characters are colourful and loveable. Solid 4.5, would have liked the ending to be a little bit less about the other 500 family members

I didn't like the characters at the beginning, but the character development was really strong. My favorite characters by far were the parents and the grandfather. The family was far too incestuous and I really didn't enjoy that. I also wished that there was a glossary because the context was insufficient to understand a lot of the Maori words throughout and it is not an easy thing to Google, especially longer phrases. It made it feel inaccessible
