3.75 estrellas.

Truly devoured it. Nothing like a self-assured female protagonist to drive a storyline
It's a fascinating take on the old myths, and really helps understand the possible timeline of how it all came together. Did I have Circe mixed up with Calypso? Possibly. I was really looking forward to hating her or finding the flaw/downfall.

Okay, this was fine, but it definitely didn’t live up to any major hype for me, but Madeline miller’s prose is fantastic, which is why this gets 3 stars instead of 2.
Did Circe make ANY purely platonic friends? Except for maybe Penelope towards the end? The men in her story she either fucks, is related to, or turns to swine. Boring. And no female friendship, anywhere, again except maybe at the very tail end. Even more boring.
I’ve never really been a huge Greek mythology girly so you could argue I shouldn’t have even read it

This one took me a while but I'm proud that I finished it. I did like the story, but I struggled to get into the cadence. My copy also had thin pages so it felt like I wasn't getting anywhere for a long time.
