Don't Overthink It: Make Easier Decisions, Stop Second-Guessing, and Bring More Joy to Your Life
Anne Bogel
This is a nice, calming book. I have read all three of Anne Bogel's books and really enjoy her writing. Her chapters are short and filled with personal anecdotes. I listed on audio, and while I enjoyed hearing Anne narrate, I probably didn't get as much out of the actionable recommendations as I would have if I were reading the book. That said, I listened to this in an afternoon while grocery shopping and cooking, and it was a lovely distraction from the outside world.
Anne Bogel writes about more than just overthinking in her latest work. She writes about the process of overthinking in many situations. I personally didn't think that this book was going to speak to me, I didn't think that I had an overthinking problem. But, I realized that the amount of time that it takes me to choose a restaurant, to the point that my husband hates even talking about eating out with me and so many other situations are really an issue. I look forward to reading this book again and again and applying Anne's realistic advice to my own life. For those familiar with Anne Bogel, she writes in the same voice that she speaks on her podcast, "What Should I Read Next," so her advice is soothing and realistic, very personal.
This is an excellent book with wonderful ideas to help someone enjoy life to the fullest by training yourself to not worry and also "training yourself to appreciate the positive." I wish this book had been around when I was younger- I would have shared it with family members who had the tendency to "overthink" and wasted so many wonderful days by worrying about everything.
I highlighted so many ideas from this book that I want to implement. This is a book I plan to read a second time. I feel I gathered so much information the first time I read it, but know that a close, second read will allow me to find any details I may have missed. A second read will also allow me to solidify the thoughts I have had in my brain since I read the book. From now on I will "buy the flowers!"

This was a good read with some nice reflection questions after each chapter to help the content feel applicable. I felt like I would've wanted more specific or deeper examples.
slow-paced
This was fantastic. I'm considering getting a copy to keep and refer back to. If the title resonates with you AT ALL (or if you deal with decision fatigue/analysis paralysis or perfectionist tendencies) do yourself a favor and grab this. The reflection prompts at the end of each chapter were especially great. I told my therapist about it and she's buying it too.
Borrowed book that I have to purchase for my shelf so that I can refresh when I forget. Simple, practical ideas to keep our busy minds healthy. Such a relatable book. Although, I feel like the title doesn't resonate with me. I don't think of myself as an over thinker. But, I can see practical application of the ideas. So maybe that's my denial. :-)

I held off reading this for a while because it was tagged as "Christian Audio" on Hoopla, but the religious references are minimal and not central to the content. Lots of great reflection questions to shift your mindset and stop the overthinking spirals.
