This series is becoming one of my addictions! It's cliche, unrealistic at times, but so good. Alex Rider was one of my favourite fictional spies as a kid, but it seems that never changed as I've grown up!
Skeleton Key is a little deeper than the last two books; a tiny bit more realistic, and I love the tortured villain in this one. Forget Herrod Sayle and Dr Grief, who's backstories/reasons were a little lacklustre and stupid. Alexei Sarov was a killer, sure, but his evident pain and grief were pitiful and it seemed to give him a tiny bit more of a story and humanity than the last villains. Everything he did was despicable and delusional, but... no one can really blame a man for feeling loss, even if it did turn him into quite a corrupt character!
Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Alex is developing as a character, Horowitz seems to have written a better villain through Alexei, I'm still annoyed at Alan Blunt for being so heartless and uncaring towards Alex - kudos to Mrs Jones for being less of a heartless so and so, even with her job - and I'm really looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

obviously I really like the Alex Rider series but right now it's really refreshing to have a book that is peaceful. I dont mean peaceful as in slow paced and calm. I mean peaceful as in I dont need think that much to follow along. lately I've had to read lots of non-fiction and challenging books for college so this is comforting in a way.

Kinda darker than the previous one, feel kinda bad for Alex since he watched a man shoot himself.
