Skeleton Key

This used to be my favorite in the series because I loved how many different settings it's in—Wimbledon, United States, Cuba, Russia—each with action and connections. Reading it now, the blatant anti-communist propaganda in this is pretty wild. I definitely didn't pick up on it when I was younger.

The first two books are so easy to remember. Stormbreaker? Alex goes undercover to find out about the computers. Point Blanc? Alex goes undercover at the academy to find out what's going on.

But this one?
-Alex goes to wimbledon
-Alex goes on holiday
-Alex teams up with the CIA
-Alex goes to Cuba

THAT'S NOT A BAD THING. But every time I try to remember what happens in this book I get confused because Alex is going all over the place!!

The book started great and then slowed down and then closed well. Overall, it was as good as Point Blank and has a good mix of action, mystery, and a James Bond feel for the adolescent age level. At first I did not like the disconnect between the starting plot and rest of your story but it gave the spy life a more realistic touch.

Gritty, exciting. Didn’t know how Alex was going to get out of this one.
