Good sequel. This series kind of has the same feel as Chronicles of Narnia to me. Seems geared towards kids, but the world feels quite a bit bigger than you'd expect.
This book does suffer a bit from the classic "middle book only exists to set up the third", but it is still an excellent story. The writing is as good as always, and the wonderful imagination and smart storytelling makes it a very worthwhile read.

3) Synopsis: Jason is home but he isn’t happy. He wants to be in Lyrian. Why? He has critical information about a horrible enemy and he left a friend there. Can he make it back in time before they die?
4) Feelings: I have liked both of the “Beyonders” books. The thought of another world out there that can be accessed from various points in this world is a fun idea. You can go from being a normal kid to a soldier or even a hero in no time. A world ruled by someone powerful and almost unstoppable. This book has creative creatures and ideas that make them different.
5) Final recommendation: I liked this book but it did do one thing I hate. It doesn’t really end. I realize there will be a 3rd book when I started but I want a major accomplishment to feel like there was a victory. It is a long book for a YA so an end was probably needed. I will certainly get the next book because this one left me wanting more.

I was really struggling to finish this second installment coz it made me bored & sleepy. But i don't like abandon a book, nor abandon the series. Honestly i don't have anything to write the review about this book coz i forgot the story already.

I think... the first book was better. I got bored in some parts unlike in the first book. But I like it too. it was one of those books that when I got to end I stared at it for a long time because I didn't believe its done. Now I'm so excited to buy and read the next book. 4 stars for this.
I think I liked this one better than the first. It took me a little while to remember all the characters and creatures from the first book but I caught on shortly. Not exactly a cliff hanger ending but there's still a lot to be resolved. Might be worth waiting til next year so you can read all three together.
Really enjoying this series!! If you like Fantasy give this a try. The author is bringing new life to characters you thought you knew.
Brandon Mull is a great story teller! The world he has created is amazing. This book is action packed and sucked me right in.
