Reread February 2019: I still very much enjoyed this second volume. I'm going to leave my original 5 star rating, but I think this go 'round would be a 4 star rating from me. I love Aram in the first half of the book a lot. I don't know how I'd forgotten about him since I read this the first time.
The second half of the book is following a lot of characters all together, so you don't get to spend much time with any one of them. But I still had a fun adventure alongside the characters. I still love all the different types of beings in this world, and I like that it uses them to somewhat address ethnocentrism. A lot of this book is moving characters to gear up for the final book though, so there isn't much/anything wrapped up at the end. It's actually more of a "dun dun duuuun" ending. Galloran is a total boss, and I'm excited to reread the final book in this trilogy when I get the chance.

In this second installment of the Beyonders series, Jason travels back from his world to Lyrian to help Prince Galloran defeat the evil Maldor. Rachel, another Beyonder has also come back to aide Jason and Prince Galloran. The book is chock full of action, battles, and adventure. The cast includes monsters, shape-shifters, and humans of all varieties! Rachel takes a stronger role in this book than she did in the first and the book will keep you hooked from beginning to end.
