Although the scenario presented is an accurate depiction of a "team" operation as individuals and not an integrated team, I do not feel I could accurately apply the labels and techniques to a current toxic situation.

An interesting book, but ultimately frustrating because you need to be in a position of authority or leadership in order to enact and practice the principles. The company I work for is very dysfunctional in the area of team building...so it all sounds good in theory, but offers little in terms of practical application to the middle manager who is the victim of poor leadership.

A quick and entertaining "fable" with LOTS of practical application. A book about shaking things up in a good way.
1. Absence of Trust / 2. Fear of Conflict / 3. Lack of Commitment / 4. Avoidance of Accountability / 5. Inattention to Results

For me this was a great little book helping me to improve my team from my own position. It gives insight into how teams tend to function (or not...) and offers many tools to help your team improve on many aspects, step by step.
Good stuff!

I'm always recommending this book as a grounding framework for all team work. I didn't think of my team as "dysfunctional" but it's also not as effective as it can be, and this book helped pinpoint what was lacking on my team.
Patrick Lencioni knows how to tell a fable.
Great book and the leadership lessons are truly embedded in the story. I love the story of new CEO taking over her executive team, and working through their dysfunctions, most of which they are completely oblivious to. The book is hard to put down, and that is hard to say for business books.
I agree with the author's assesment of how important team work is, and the examples, and conversations and dialogues make it a very good read, with lots of lesson to learn. This is sadly something that is not examined well in corporate environment and teams have lost a lot of spirit and enthusiasm and THIS is a book that your boss and his boss need to read rather than you, the employee! :)
So I highly recommend it for you if you are sitting in a management chair at a company!

This is a great book on leadership. It gets to the heart of why some teams just don't function well together, even when they're made up of talented and committed individuals.
Love the fable laced with real life applications of the key points and takeaways
