A friend recommended this book to me ages ago, and after watching the latest season of Girls 5eva (Pause - y'all NEED to be watching this show), I decided it was time to give it a listen. This was just a wonderful memoir. I did the audio version, and that added so much as Sara read/sang her words, and she also had others who'd written content read their words. Throughout, she was honest. It wasn't so much about Sara the musician, but moreso Sara the person. She was real with her struggles and insecurities as they are part of her journey. While she said she probably wouldn't write another book, I do hold out hope, she'll take on a second one about where she's been since this one ended.

Any fan will truly enjoy this insight into Sara's personal life. A reminder that even famous people are human and can have feelings of self-doubt and depression. I love her even more now than I did before. A quick, great read.
Fun, melodic and playful memoir. This book had a very rhythmic quality about it, and it was easy to enjoy. While on the surface it felt heartfelt, I kept having a nagging feeling that Sara would always stop short of digging into her feelings and resorting back to cliche reassurances of her self worth. When she talked about other people she seemed to be more descriptive and vibrant. Something that solidified my thought on this was her quick note of the time volunteering with All Hands Volunteers. She very briefly mentioned a moment of the family she was helping her bringing her food. As someone who has worked with that organization multiple times, I knew exactly how that moment resonates in a person. The immensity of someone with nothing giving what they can as a sign of thanks. This didn't take away from the enjoyment of this book, and perhaps a merit to it that I wanted more. 2018 Pop Sugar Reading Challenge -A book recommended by someone else doing this challenge
LOVE LOVE LOVE. I didn't know I could love Sara B more but this book proved me wrong.

The audiobook version of this was a delight to listen to. Sara Bareilles' narration was spot-on, and her delivery made the jokes laugh-out-loud funny. The acapella songs at the start of the chapters really added something to the book as well.
If you're interested in learning more about singer-songwriters or the music industry, or having a really honest look at Sara Bareilles, I really recommend this book.

If there’s anything you should know about me, it’s that Sara Barellies is my favourite artist of all time and has been since the day I bought her first album when I was 12( the second album I ever bought!)
Considering this, I had no doubt I’d adore her book and I was right. This was truly wonderful. It was personal, with the perfect balance of humour and emotion. It was beautifully written and perfectly showcased Sara’s down to earth, humble voice and personality.
With each essay beginning with a short, acapella rendition of one of her songs and a warm, funny narration, if you get the chance, I’d highly recommend reading the audiobook version.
I enjoyed each and every moment of listening to this and, somehow, I’ve come away from it admiring Sara’s talent and person even more.
