As if I wasn't excited enough to see her in Waitress in May - what an incredible book about one of my generation's greatest talents.
If you love Sara Bareilles you'll love this book. I highly recommend you listen to the audiobook rather than read it. The book is broken down by song and in the audiobook she sings a piece of each song before the chapter begins. It's absolutely beautiful. You get a great insight into who she is and where she was in her life when those songs were written.

Lovely lovely lovely book written and sung by a lovely lovely lovely and talented song writer. This was such a fast read/listen. I would listen to a hundred more stories about songs, especially Sara's, whose songs are filled with such heart.
I highly suggest you listen to the audiobook so you can hear Sara sing.
EDIT: I just added a star for the bloopers after the acknowledgements. Seriously. Sara is so endearing.

Meh... I was just waiting for her to finish each chapter so I can hear her sing. But then, I should just listen to her album.
I love Sara's music and Ned Andrew was enjoying her memoir, so I acquired an ecopy. He finished before I did and was disappointed, but we sometimes like different things, so I kept going and was similarly disappointed.
Sara made it clear that she didn't want to write the book, and it shows. She starts out great and then loses steam. The convention of tying the stories to her songs was interesting but only carried it so far. The ending is completely unresolved -- and I'm all about a good finish.
I'll keep listening to her music. In that arena, she's nearly flawless.
