Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin for a gifted copy of Nothing Ever Happens Here.

This story was wild. It’s been a while since I read a thriller and this one was perfect. It kept me guessing until the big reveal.

I loved the residents of Oleander Terrace. They were hilarious and exactly how I want to be when I get older. And I loved how they banded together to helped Shelby and Mack find out who was attacking people around their small town.

And man…Shelby and Mack had a rough year. I felt bad for them. And glad they made it to the other side.

This was a decent thriller, with plenty of twists that kept me guessing and some heart-pounding moments along the way. Unfortunately, it felt overcrowded with too many characters, none that I really connected with, making it difficult to feel really invested. It didn’t feel particularly original, and the repeated mentions of ice fishing were oddly distracting, we get it, you're in Minnesota. The ending was satisfying enough, even if the book as a whole didn’t wow me. Not a bad read, but not one I’m rushing to recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley and Graydon House for access to this book.

Premise was good. Small town, attempted murder, missing persons, threatening note. I think it was a cute idea that the senior citizens got together and started a true crime podcast and began looking into the case themselves. However, it did lag in some parts and the ending fell a little flat for me.

How fun! The ragtag group of senior citizens who start a true crime podcast element was a bit over the top but still added a fun dash of humour to the mystery. The mystery itself wasn’t super memorable but the characters all had a lot of personality that redeemed it for me during the slower parts
