How fun! The ragtag group of senior citizens who start a true crime podcast element was a bit over the top but still added a fun dash of humour to the mystery. The mystery itself wasn’t super memorable but the characters all had a lot of personality that redeemed it for me during the slower parts

Okayyyy… a little something did happen here, but I’m still like “wth”. 🤔

I liked that the story was told from 3 POVs as they made it fun to listen to. I also liked how the seniors got involved and even went as far as trying to get a podcast up and running. I love a book with podcasts. 🙃

The “whodunit” didn’t really make sense or truly come together to me. Like that’s really the reason why? Huh? Idk, I just feel like something better could’ve been made up but whatevs. I also felt like parts of Mack’s story were irrelevant to the actual focal point of the book… but I guess the author was just trying to give us an extra dose of suspense and drama on the side. 🤷🏾‍♀️

The ending… I did NOT know my girl Florence was gonna come through like THAT. Sheesh. 😅

Funny. Mysterious. Thrilling. Great book. From the beginning i was trying to figure it out! at some parts i thought i had it figured out with all the clues that were thrown at us, all the loopholes. It was well written! This book has multiple pov’s! three to be exact, Shelby who was attacked at the beginning of the book, the one who’s been threatened and is willing to do anything to keep her twin daughter safe. There’s Mack, who’s husband disappeared at the beginning of the book as well, and Florence who is an elderly woman living at oleanders, a nursing home where Shelby lives. These three women are all from the same town in Minnesota. All linked through the events, all trying to figure out what the hell is happening and who is terrorizing Shelby. The story is full of twists, it has you thinking you’ve found out who the one behind all of this is, then once again you’re wrong. If you’re looking for a lighthearted funny, yet thriller book, this is for you. The side characters, the ‘crew’ at the Oleanders, they made the book better!i could just imagine them doing their podcast! i loved them, i loved Herb and his witty remarks, and the fact that at least one of them always had snacks when they’d be out! i loved it! Great writing!

Nothing Ever Happens Here drops us into a quiet little town where life is predictable—until, suddenly, it isn’t. What starts as an ordinary day quickly spirals into a tangled web of mystery when a husband goes missing, a burglary is foiled, and the town’s ever-watchful neighbors start buzzing with speculation. The sleepy town vibe sets the perfect backdrop for a thriller packed with unexpected turns, where secrets lurk beneath the surface, and everyone seems to know just a little too much about each other.

With plenty of twists and a jaw-dropping revelation I never saw coming, this book kept me hooked from start to finish. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, the story veered in a completely different direction, keeping me on my toes until the very last page. If you love small-town mysteries with a cast of quirky characters and surprises at every turn, this one is a must-read!

I received an ARC of this from NetGalley for an honest review.
Overall, this was a solid thriller. It had some fun twists and turns, and the story loved leaving us hanging at the end of chapters-which did keep me interested and reading.
Where the book was lacking was in character development. I did like our characters overall. The big problem was our protagonists. Our first main character Shelby never felt fully developed, she was put through the wringer in this book and there wasn’t much more to her character. Making her a mom was the main reason we were meant to worry for her. Our other main character Mackenzie’s personality also revolves around being a victim-her husband disappears and seems to have defrauded them and others. The best characters are the retirement home characters from Shelby’s work. Though they did seem to be a shallow version of the delightful characters in Thursdays Murder Club.
Overall, if you are looking for a fun easy thriller to read I would recommend, as long as you don’t mind forgetting all the characters the day after you finish the book. 3⭐️

I was intrigued by the premise but as the story progressed it felt very much like the show only murders in the building. While I love that show, this just wasn’t hitting the vibes for me in a good way.
