To be honest, this book put me in a mini slump. The plot progressed slowly once again, and quite a few of the storylines frustrated me. The perspective constantly changing was also jarring and ruined the flow of the story (e.g. Chapter 12). Basically, loving the characters wasn't enough to keep me interested.

How was there a resurgence of a group like Valentine's Circle? After all that happened, they still didn't learn? The Cohort were just a bunch of racists. Zara was an especially disgusting bully and I hated it every time she was on the page. I despised this storyline and it ruined the book for me.

Emma was misguided and Julian deserved better, especially since he was very clever and a great father figure to the Blackthorn children. Dru was very naïve, but I understood why she felt the way she did. She was too trusting of Jaime though. I loved Livvy and Ty and Kit's group too. Livvy's death was so unnecessary and I am not looking forward to Ty's reaction in the next book.

Arthur's end was heartbreaking. I was glad he came through in the end but his whole life was so sad. Also, Annabel deserved better. The Blackthorns were really done dirty over the years. I felt bad for Malcolm but he took a very bad path and continued to torment Annabel in his own way.

I was glad Diego messed up because it allowed Cristina and Mark to progress their relationship. I also loved that Mark when back for Kieran. Additionally, it was nice seeing Jace and Clary around, but it was even better seeing Magnus, Alec, and the kids.

Overall, this book frustrated me and bored me. I loved the characters but hated the plot.

I wish I could adequately explain how amazing Cassandra Clare is. I think a lot of people sleep on her writing or take it less seriously than other epic fantasy because a big part of her writing is the romance (and it isn’t smut

i am hurting v much but oh my god THIS BOOK. its everything i wanted and more from a sequel to Lady Midnight. These characters are so close to my heart I love them all so freakin much. The ending killed me. I was sobbing for the last 20 pages or so. The biggest stand out for me was Ty. i flipping love Tiberius Nero Blackthorn with all my heart he deserves the world x3. Kit was another HUGE standout for me god bless him. Also seeing Magnus and Alec made me so happy. I love Emma. I love Julian. I love Cristina. I love Mark. I love Livvy. I love Ty. I love Kit. I love Dru. I love Tavvy. I love Diana. I love Alec and Magnus and Rafe and Max and EVERYONE. i just my heart is aching. this series will kill me one day. i am v sure. I cannot believe we have to wait TWO FLIPPING YEARS for Queen of Air and Darkness. It was hard just waiting over a year for this one but now TWO YEARS. I cannot bear it. Don't mind me whilst i go sob about this book for the next two years. i am in pain. BUT I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH AH ALL THE LOVE THANKYOU CASSIE CLARE FOR A PHENOMENAL READ THAT TOUCHED MY HEART SO MUCH.

So I liked this a lot more than LM! The ending WRECKED me. Like I just had to sit there for a few minutes staring at the back cover, to process my emotions. I absolutely LOVE Kit, he’s so precious and funny, and lives up to the Herondale name! I feel a little too old to crush on him so instead I think of him as a thing to protect. I also loved his dynamic with Ty, it’s cute how confused he is about his blatantly obvious crush, and I’m excited to see how that pans out (or should I say bi?) Mark, Christina and Kieran were all great! And I really developed a love for Emma!

(This could contain mild spoilers, though I did my best to avoid them)

Julian, however, made me rather uneasy. I don’t know if it was intended or if it’s just my own interpretation, but he could be rather possessive, violent and cold in a way that made me a little anxious at times. For example, at one point he is mad at Emma for bringing something up and he breaks a glass, or another time where Emma is taking about something rather traumatic and he’s thinking about her body and trying to cover a b*ner with a pillow. He just rubbed me the wrong way a lot of the time, but I’m still conflicted because of how great his dynamic is with his siblings.

This book reminded me of what the Shadowhunters’ world is all about and made me fall back in love with it. This book is dark, action-packed, romantic and devastating all at the same time. I’m crying. This is amazing.

Wasn't a fan of the writing and pacing of long chapters.
