I give this book 3.75. It’s an ok read, and I loved the premise. It was recommended to me through an online event I attended called Locked In With Christie in which a few books were discussed and you chose your favorite local in a few Christie novels where you would prefer to be locked in for 24 hours.
I love how this book sets you up in Bertram Hotel so you get a sense of its old world style and how it never changes. Right away your introduced to the cast of characters. I anticipated that Christie formula but as some of my Good Reads friends have mentioned…Ms Marple is not really featured as much in this book. She basically there on holiday and has a foreboding that something is going to happen but she’s not involved in solving the case.
Its still a great book for the season if you’re into mysteries for the fall.

Sometimes, I feel like re-reading Agatha Christie's books, specifically those centered around Miss Marple. At Bertram's Hotel is a comfort read for me in that I especially enjoy the chapters when Miss Marple is describing the hotel and all its comforts. Perhaps odd, as this is supposed to be a mystery. But I find the descriptions of the hotel more intriguing than the actual mystery. This time around, I wasn't as smitten but it is still a decent read.
I liked it, though I wasn’t surprised by any of the twists really. Was decently predictable but still enjoyable.

Meh, not my favorite miss Marple. This one was a bit boring and not enough Miss Marple for me. She was too much in the background in this one.

Even though it sounds weird I do prefer the books of the series the most in which Miss Marple is only a minor character.
Bertram's Hotel was another great volume and until the end I had no clue at all about what was going on. Definitely a highlight of the serios imo.

It wasn’t too long into this book that I remembered that I had read this several years ago. I enjoyed the reread.
I will admit that I am more of a Hercule Poirot fan. Miss Marple doesn’t even show up for a while in this book and when she does, at times it feels like she’s a side character. The characters, the mystery and the resolution of the whodunit are interesting but This is not one of my favourites . At times the story drags but It still gets four stars because Agatha Christie is an amazing writer. She is a detailed in her writings and her description of Bertram’s hotel makes the place come alive for the reader.
