Three stars, bc even tho I didn't like it as much as the previous sagas (Percy Jackson + The adventures of the Seven) I think the ending saved it a bit. I thought it was far more chilfish an chaotic at first, maybe trying to be something without being able to, but it gained some points at the end, so I added a star.

It was all right...not bad, but not that great. It was way too long and there was too much background for things I really didn't care about (and so much journeying for characters I didn't really know at the time). I also kept having to check to see which character was talking. Hopefully the next two are better.

Like all of Rick Riordan's books, I absolutely love this book. It is filled with just enough magic and fun that it fits my tastes in books really well. I especially like the Egyptian lore that was infused in it. This is one of my go to books that I will read over and over and over again. I absolutely love this book and all of the other books that Riordan has written.

As much as I enjoy the Percy Jackson series, this new series featuring brother and sister Carter and Sadie is even richer and more edge-of-your-seat. The shifting point of view between the two siblings (and their snarky sibling-esque asides to each other) work beautifully, and Riordan breathes life into the well-known and little-known Egyptian gods in a way that he never quite achieves with the Olympians. A captivating and multi-layered story... can't wait to see what he does with the sequel.
