The imagery and romanticism really makes me want to start growing tulips! Such a gorgeous book, beautifully written and engaging from start to finish. The characters are all really interesting and even the villains of the story are exciting to read about. I’ve never felt so happy after finishing a book.

Not as good as the three musketeers. Van Baerle is kinda creepy for calling a 16-year old a child and marrying her anyways.

Dumas shows himself the master storyteller, turning the unlikely ingredients of this engaging book into a romantic tale of triumph over despair.
Superficial characters but still loved it. This doesn't have the usual political drama of Dumas, and his monarchist ideology is clearer, but it doesn't matter so much.
It has a great female protagonist, who saves her love from the castle prison and learns to read.
