I was so annoyed by all the characters!!! I hated the cousins, I hated the younger one, I hated the people at the hotel. I hated how Alicia can’t handle situations and always ends up screwing things over, she is so naïve. But I mean hate in a good way, that’s how you are supposed to feel.
It may not be the best book in the world, and I gather that the main series is better than this stories collection, but I had fun anyway.

So I read the first two Clique novels and I enjoyed them and thus I bought the subsequent books. While shopping I saw four of the five summer collections going for $0.97 each. Now while I spend a lot of money on books, I loves me a good bargain! So of course I bought them.
I picked up Alicia's book this evening. Keep in mind that I haven't read the series since late 2011. It took me a minute to get back into the flow.I immediately knew I had missed some things, but that didn't bother me too much. What did bother me were the words used. Some of the stuff I could let slip by and I have to admit I liked some of the terminology. But spelling hot hawt and not nawt? That was just too much for me. It's minor, but I can get really picky about using proper language.
I did feel for Alicia for being thrown over by her cousins, but she bonded with Nina and I thought that was sweet. In the end she won the day when Nigel turned out to be the Spanish pop star. That did kind of surprise and I admit my inner thirteen year old cheered. Everything turned out okay.
So in conclusion I will be reading the other Summer Collections, maybe sooner than later and I'll get back to reading the main novels.

Honestly, Alicia is my least favorite character from this series. She's defiant to authority and can't grasp the fact that she needs to learn to follow before she can lead. I can't even describe the disgust I acquired for Nina from reading Invasion of the Boy Snatchers . But in this book I actually sympathized with them. I never considered that Alicia felt that she didn't belong in either the American or Spanish worlds. All of the other members of the Pretty Committee seemed so obvious to me: Massie is a spoiled and socially insecure mess who hides it all with her desire to lead and be in the spotlight (all due to the fact that she used to be an oppressed beta), Dylan is insecure about her weight (because she grew up in the photo shoped world of television), Kristen is ashamed and is limited by her family's social and monetary status (because of the papered poodles she calls peers), and Claire is stuck between the worlds of high end living and the life she left in Orlando, trying her hardest to fit in. But I always thought that Alicia was just an ungreatful little prick, trying to be someone she isn't. She's bound to be a beta in my opinion, but at least I understand her struggle a little more. The same goes for Nina who's just bullied by her status seeking sisters. This just reminded me of why I love Lisi Harrison's books so much. Even though the lives of celebrities and popular kids seem so perfect, they're all going through struggles that we can relate to, making them no different than us. And as the ending taught me, being on top isn't always the option that will make you happy.

This was my least favorite Clique book so far. Alicia's obsession with being "an alpha" bores me so much and this plot was ridiculous. The only reason this isn't getting one star is because of the conversation she has with Nigel about not feeling like she belongs in Westchester or Spain; I hope in future books Alicia will get to explore this issue more.
