This didn't go how I expected and exactly how I expected lol.
It still feels like high school but high school in hell. I think being a GenZ and being the 2nd generation since my grandparents fought for Kenya's freedom...this hits different. Their stories are we hid in caves, made guns from scratch, and fought for our lives. My story is ✨I contemplate unalivement if my code doesn't work because of a comma✨ Not seriously but you get what I mean.
Logen, Glokta, and Jezel's stories are the same as my grandparents. I'm the same as Savine, Orso, and Stour, privileged enough to be ambitious. They fought because they had to, we fight because we want to. We being the youngins I relate with the most so Savine, Stour.
In this book, people proved their quality or stupidity... I think Orso's growth has been so good to witness and I'm rooting for him. Even tho I think the world of Savine...she's acting like her 22/23? year old husband and that's where you go ✨wrong✨
Knowing how Joe treats his characters, I'm scared to read The Wisdom of Crowds.

Spoiler
Honestly the best man won. Leo is arrogant, young, and naive...in other words, our boy is dumb. I'd move to the North if he became king.Knowing how Joe treats his characters, I'm scared to read The Wisdom of Crowds.
Spoiler
He killed my husband once, yes I know Logen isn't dead yet but let me be dramatic.emacap_137's review against another edition

Simply incredible, the best book by Abercrombie by far after having read all but the wisdom of crowds
Characters, plot, twists even the romance and humor are timed and exploited perfectly.
Fantastic journey

i have to admit, i was a bit bored throughout the first half of the book, but the latter half more than made up for it.
i can’t say i predicted for anything to end the way it did, bloody hell, mr. abercrombie truly has the ability to have things only get worse and worse with every book, rather than better — can’t say i’ve seen that much before in the books i’ve read, so i would call it a refreshing change, but unfortunately it just makes me even more mad at some of the characters. great shock, i know.
i really expected leo to be my favourite character even before i started reading this, but unfortunately i have no mind for stupid characters, and by God, that man is stupid. i really expected to not like jezal’s son, but he ended up being my favourite character by far, with rikke second. who would’ve thought?
after all that’s been built up the past two books has come crashing down, i cannot help but wonder how much worse things will get in the next book. i hope the breakers win this thing and the union turns into a democracy. maybe someone finally gets rid of that bastard bayaz. a guy can dream, can’t he?
