The beginning of this book really drew me in. But the most exciting part of the book moved way to fast. I found it very hard to continue reading the book as it was the same thing over and over . The climax was definitely in the beginning but it doesn't seem as if that's what the author intended. This book did not live up to my expectations at all. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the beginning of the book was fairly good, it drew me in and kept me reading for awhile . I took frequent breaks reading this and read several other books in the process . This really wasn't worth the time . If you're considering reading this , choose your next choice.

A really well-paced thriller that I evidently devoured. I was shocked at the opening chapter jumping into the story the way it did, but it suited the overall story arc: the character development and relationship struggles. I liked that they didn’t go down the predictable route regarding romance, and there was realism in the road to recovery from trauma.

All of the abuse is explored retrospectively, which may irk some people but I think the author avoided clichés and making delight out of horrible events by writing them in the way that they did. If you have an imagination, you’ll know the depths of what Lily went through from what she does say about it. This book isn’t about documenting abuse - it’s about what happens after.

Docked a point just because the antagonist seemed a bit sloppier than you’d expect of someone who managed to get away with being a predator for so long. I also take issue with him claiming, among other things, to potentially have BPD. Nothing he did signals that would be a reasonable diagnosis, and it’s quite problematic to even relate the condition to the type of person who does what Rick did to Lily.

Overlooking that as a minor detail, it was a fun, easy read. Yeah the events moved very quickly - much more quickly than they would in real life - but I appreciated the pacing as dragging it out would have made for a mundane read.

Baby Doll had me hooked from the start and I could not put it down! I loved having 4 different points of view in the book although I think it would have been nice to have Wes included as another "outsider" perspective.. I actually liked Rick's parts almost the best because you could really feel just how twisted and creepy he was. The book was fast paced and great for anyone that likes a suspenseful novel.

After finishing this book I still can't believe it's Hollie Overton's first novel. This book kept me drawn from beginning to end.

I really enjoyed this book! I like that it differs from other books similar to it in that there was not a big hunt for the kidnapper; we all knew who he was. It was, at times, uncomfortable to read simply because of how well it was written. The true success of it is definitely the characters - believable and relate-able. I look forward to seeing what else this author has to offer. .
