“At some point, you have got to stop worrying so much about what everyone else needs and start thinking about what you need.”

I love grumpy x sunshine trope. There, I said it. It’s one of my favorites, okay? I love it when the grumpy guy just opens up and be less grumpy. And that’s what this book delivered - the perfect grumpy x sunshine trope.

To be honest, I really had so much fun reading this especially since it’s also a small town setting. You’ll not only fall in love with the main character but you’ll fall more in love due to the other side characters. It's the perfect cast of characters because I don't hate anybody, well, okay, maybe Tina (but she actually has an amazing attitude that is perfectly her).

Story-wise, it's great! With the
gun scene
the only exception. I breezed thru with it (if only I had it with me the whole time - see backstory of my experience below). I genuinely enjoyed reading this book contrary to what my friend's review is. Must be all the tropes included that appealed to me.

Backstory of my experience: I was halfway thru the book before I had to donate it to my best friend so she can busy herself with her trip to the hospital. So I had to re-read a few chapters to remember it again since it’s been almost a month since my last read. Good thing I annotate so I quickly got back to what the story was about.

I will admit, this book really hits close to home for me and took me a bit to get through.  I raised my own niece from the time she was 11, my best decision and best friend. The subject matter felt so familiar and very much mirrored certain aspects about being thrust into parenthood. It’s hard and messy, especially if you’re someone with a Type-A personality. This book is worth the hype. It’s worth all the love it gets. Lucy did a beautiful job with these characters, it was a fantastic read filled with laughter and a few tears, full steam ahead (every man could learn a thing or two from Knox Morgan) and a great introduction to Knockemout. Naomi Witt, you have my heart! Starting Book Two now!
