I highlighted lots of descriptive situations that defined emotions and situations really well but I couldn't get connected with both of our main characters.
Their sudden relationship threw me off because they have no chemistry.
The side characters are nothing memorable or interesting either.
I like the premise of this book and the message it generally gives but couldn't love the way characters are connected or the setting of it.

I wish there was less self hatred for being fat and that losing weight was not a focus for Libby to “heal”. I would just like a book with a fat girl that doesn’t hate her body but it was lighter on that than other books i’ve read and Libby is a strong character. It is lovely to see fat teenage romance!
Graphic: Body shaming, Bullying, Fatphobia, Infidelity, Mental illness, Panic attacks/disorders, Death of parent, Fire/Fire injury
Moderate: Cancer, Confinement, Cursing, Eating disorder, Medical content, Grief, Fire/Fire injury, Injury/Injury detail

I thought this was an overall very well written book, and felt a bit on the cusp of books to transition from reading young adult to adult-adult fiction. I personally didn't love the "I love you" at the end (teenagers are so dramatic) or the magically being able to see Libby's face despite the prosopagnosia, but maybe that's just me. I did find Jack's struggles incredibly relatable as someone with aphantasia. While I can recognize faces, the lack of ability to see things in one's mind no matter how hard you try is so real and so frustrating sometimes, and it was refreshing to see that in a novel.

okay i was pretty sucked into it the first few chapters bc i loved the audiobook narration but....the fat shaming?? immediate turn-off. and the fact that the first thing she thinks of when she gets to high school for the first time is to find a boy who will love her. nuh uh.
Didn't hook me at 15% in. Summarily dropped
