All in all I did enjoy the book but there were issues.
1. The main chick is supposed to be from NYC but she keeps saying this like "bloody hell" and calling the garbage can the "bin". Is the author British and just doesn't realize that we don't say "bloody hell" all the time? Or ever? Unless we're making fun of Ron Weasley.
2. What they use as the main catalyst for the book is absolutely awful. I don't think I'd ever be able to forgive him and I don't know any woman who could be able to forgive what he did. So what? She gave you the cold shoulder for two months after you did something absolutely heinous. You got off easy bro.
That being said I did enjoy most of the book. Will I read another TL Swan? Idk imma download the huge epilogue that she wrote but other than that..... Not sure.

Could not handle the guy in this one…Douchey McDoucherson

I genuinely tried to finish this, but it was just...bad. The MMC is literally toxic. (I'm a therapist, so I feel like I can say that with some validity). Not in a "moral y gray," kinda way, but just in a gross kind of way. Also, I found my book ick. I don't like it when someone says, "he smiled sexily." I searched that word in my Kindle. Sexily appears 44 times. I hear that she really grows as an author in her later works, and I'm willing to give it a chance. But this was just not it.

This is not it. The spice is fantastic, and plentiful, but that’s about it. Cal just sounds like a whiny toddler throughout and is just way too toxic. So if a bit of a toxic relationship is for you then go ahead.

Ugh. I really wanted to like this book. It was a rollercoaster of a story, and not necessarily in a good way. Cameron is super likeable in the beginning during their one night stand and immediately after, but then we fast forward 5 years and he’s a self-absorbed, controlling, narcissistic asshole. He’s hot and cold toward Ashley, doesn't communicate well, and makes unreasonable demands of her. We don’t hear a chapter from Cameron’s POV for a while in the middle, and then the next time we do, he’s in love with Ashley, despite his actions indicating otherwise. The story really had potential, but Cameron’s actions really made it hard to want to finish the book.

On top of all that, the writing is repetitive as hell. I know this is one of TL Swan’s earlier books, but I wish she had used a thesaurus a time or two. Ashley is from New York, and I think she used the word “bloody” to curse more often than Cam did, and he’s Australian!

All in all, the story was fun at times, and the spicy scenes were alright, but I was super irritated with Cameron for most of the book and that made it difficult for me to enjoy.

idc how good the sex is but if i ever find myself entangled with a chauvinistic alpha hole prick who thinks he can force me to quit my steady paying job to please him and have the galls to get angry at me for having a secret child when he all but roared his distaste for dating women with children i wouldn’t think twice about pulling a giulia tofana

Great start but it started to go downhill fast. I really wanted to cheer for the h and H but I lost interest in reading.
