I decided to read this after I read [b:The Stopover|45156972|The Stopover (Miles High Club, #1)|T.L. Swan|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1567712346l/45156972._SY75_.jpg|69847080] by the same Author. And what a start to a book!! Hooked from the beginning!
If you want a bit of spice in your life you're going to get it from the very first chapter!!
I wasn't sure it could go much further after the 50% ish mark, but I was mistaken. Following Ashley & Camerons story through the years is a journey you want to go on. I really felt the feelings from both sides. I even shed a tear at one point because I could feel the characters pain.
I loved it so much and I was so glad that [a:T.L. Swan|8346771|T.L. Swan|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1422832056p2/8346771.jpg] couldn't keep the Epilogue short and wrote a short follow up [b:Dr. Stanton's The Epilogue|36596117|Dr. Stanton's The Epilogue (Dr. Stanton #2)|T.L. TL Swan, GIRLLLLLL you did it again!! This is my 3rd book of hers that I’ve read and EVERYTIME she has me falling for these men! I’ll take a Cameron Stanton ANYDAY! With this book, she got my hopes up, then she had me shocked as ever, then she had me in suspense on when Ashley would drop the news, then she had me heart broken, then she had me happy again, temporarily shocked/sad/WTF and FINALLY a happy ending! Can we say ROLLERCOASTER?! Thank you TL Swan, I can’t wait to read the next one!

it was good
This book turned out better than I thought it would. It is well written and witty. Rich, smart, and beautiful people…. I love those elements in my romance books.
By the middle of the book I was ready to dnf it but thank goodness I hung in there. I was getting so frustrated with the heroine and the decisions she was making. But thankfully the book took a turn and kept me entertained to the end.

I'm in love!
I'm reading Swan's books out of order but I can't help it! I get sucked in so fast I can't put it down 'til I'm done! "Marx Girl" was amazing & "Dr. Stanton" was even better!!

This book is upsetting. It feels like a celebration of toxic masculinity. The primary relationship is straight up abusive. The male protagonist, Cameron, is sexist, classist, and violent. His family (especially his brother) generally defends this behavior too!
Another constant premise of the book is that sex work is somehow wrong. Characters’ attitudes towards sex work are degrading, condescending, and morally superior - which, if you read the paragraph above, you’ll realize is hilariously hypocritical. Both protagonists look down on the people who work at the club, but it’s actually the one place where the female protagonist’s, Ashley’s, boundaries are actively protected. Cameron certainly isn’t a character who respects any of her boundaries.
Having shared these egregious themes, I’m not even going to start discussing the way medicine and medical training are misrepresented. Rest assured, almost none of the descriptions are accurate, at least for the US.

Spoiler
And, though Ashley points out many times that Cameron holds a double standard about her work at the club considering he’s a frequent customer there himself, this is never actually addressed in any meaningful way within the book.Having shared these egregious themes, I’m not even going to start discussing the way medicine and medical training are misrepresented.
