What in the world did I just read? And why? Terrible characters doing terrible actions and they are both in professional and respected fields. I am not even sure where to begin with this pot of shit stew honestly. Is there a book out there that is just two average people, with average incomes, that have witty banter, communicate their feelings with each other, that have some wild sexy times with a bit of miscommunicated mischief and maybe one major problem to overcome before wrapping up the epilogue? I true unicorn I know.

This book needs to add a genre to it because the real mystery of this book is did the MC ever become a doctor?

I enjoyed this book as there is a twist in the middle that I actually didn't seem coming... The author was sneaky with how they worded things to make things seem one way when they weren't haha. That doesnt often happen with me, normally I can see things coming.
The romance is on point and there's enough smut to keep things interesting.

ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? no groveling when he made the absolute biggest mistake i've ever read in my entire life. fuck you, stanton

This book started out strong. And then very quickly got worse… and worse… and just turned into a whole mess.

Look. I read a lot of dark romance and romances with a$$hole male characters. I’m fine with them… but I just hate when characters that are abusive and controlling (to this point) are featured in regular romances!!! It’s like it’s OK. This book really felt like it was normalising said behaviors??
Dr. Stanton was really out there insisting she quit her job. And the only lame a$$ excuse we got was that it was because he was worried for his son’s future… you do realize you go to the same “strip club”??? Why the double standard??
And the way he was just so entitled and couldn’t for the life of him understand why she’d want to work even when he paid her rent… LIKE DUDE SERIOUSLY?!?!
I was beyond words.
I’ve also seen a few reviews mentioning the German and French used in the book to be inaccurate?? I don’t speak either language so can’t speak to that- but I have to say that the inclusion of the languages felt very… odd?? Like seriously, as a bilingual speaker myself- I’d love to see that portrayed in a book, but 99% of the German and French used was during SEX. And even then it was made so awkward with the line underneath it reading “translation” and then stating it… like?? This made it out to be so awkwardly written lmao.

Honestly, this book just had tooooo much going for it. It felt like the author tried to write as many plot points and tropes as they possibly can into one book and it JUST DIDNT WORK!! Like there was the one night stand and of course he lost her number, and then they meet again after five years and of course he’s her boss and of course there’s a child and of course she’s a stripper during the night and of course he is a member at the club she strips. LIKE COME ON. It was just too much.

I didn’t even want them to end up together. They were such a mess and the MMC did not deserve the FMC’s forgiveness considering he tried to take her child away at one point

This book started out so strong. Ashley (FMC) is a single mom putting herself through medical school. She reconnects with a one night stand from a trip to Las Vegas five years prior. At first, their relationship takes off hot and heavy until Cameron (Dr. Stanton) becomes controlling. He does things in this book that would be unforgiveable in my opinion which made this book difficult to like. After reading seven of T L Swan's books, all of which feature a wealthy MMC, I have noticed a theme of controlling men, especially when it comes to the mothers of their children. Because of that, T L Swan's books are hit or miss for me.

So good!! I laughed, I cried and fell in love all in one book. At times I truly hated Cameron (we all know when), but ultimately it all makes sense. The way Ashley and Cameron mesh killed me the whole time.
