Not a fan of the whole lying about having a baby trope. Also, he really needed to grovel more. She took him back so fast, like a doormat. I'd like a stronger FMC though. Over all, the smut was good and I enjoyed it.

This was a good book and good story, but man Cameron is an a**hat. He was redeemed way too quick. And Ashley got over her issues with him and money way to fast too.

Sweet Moses.
I absolutely loved this book.

I’ll be upfront with you tell you that what I’m about to say won’t make sense, but those that get it, get it. This isn’t the best book out there, I bet there’s book better than this, written better too. However, you know what?! This book was AMAZING. I ate this book up like it was no ones business.

I laughed, got mad, cried, felt tense and anxious, angry at some decisions. If it wasn’t because I read this on my kindle I would have slammed this book shut countless times. These characters did stupid shit that made me want to yank my hair out and I rooted for them so hard.

The logic behind a lot of things wasn’t there and I caught myself like wth a lot. I’m here for a good time not a long time though and I damn sure had a good time; because Dr. Stanton, I sure can use a physical

I had a love-hate relationship with the story… mostly love

Yes I had a love-hate relationship with the story…. Mostly love. But a little bit of hate.

Ashley and Cameron meet up at a bar where he rescued her from a handsy guy’s unwanted advances. They have a mind blowing night together and she leaves in the morning with a permanent reminder of their time together. She gives him her phone number, but he winds up losing his phone and has no way to reach her. They never exchanged names, so she has no way to find him to tell him she’s pregnant.

Fast forward five years, and she discovers he is the doctor she accepted a year long internship with. Neither one has forgotten about the other, but they get off on rocky footing from the get-go. Here’s where we get to the hairy parts. She starts a part-time job at an exclusive club where she can earn anywhere from a couple hundred dollars a shift to many thousand dollars a shift depending on whether she’s willing to move beyond just bartending, to dancing, to all the way up to a private overnight with a member. Naturally, Cameron is a member at this exclusive club. Over 12 days, she and Cameron reconnect and fall in love. She feels guilty for not telling him about Owen, but keep in mind this literally all happened over 12 days. Definitely she should not have been sleeping with him and meeting the family and traveling for the weekend with him without telling him about his son. But at the same time waiting to actually know him first, to make sure he’s a safe person to be around, before bringing their son into the situation isn’t unreasonable.

Obviously it all goes to heck in a handbasket, and Cameron loses his mind when he finds out the truth. Here’s where it gets unforgivable in my opinion. He threatens her and bullies her, even physically drag her out of her job, and tells her if she doesn’t quit her job at the club she “will regret it”. The worst part of that is that he is belittling her and threatening her for working at an establishment that is so trashy in his opinion, yet he pays a fortune to be a member there and use the services. Hypocrite. She gets drugged while out for the first time with coworkers, and he filed for emergency custody and wins. She is sentenced to having to go through drug treatment. She repeatedly told him not to do this, and that she would never forgive him for taking away her son, yet he did it anyway. His idiot brother and him are convinced they are doing the right thing for Owen. Everyone else sees it for what it really is , a blatant power-play for control. He was a father for all of five minutes, and yet she put her self through medical school and raised this child solo for five years. But somehow he knows she’s a terrible unfit mother and he’s the best option. That was the point of no return for me. There’s just no coming back from that. I would harbor that hatred forever.

On the plus side, she does manage to keep a back bone and hates him even after he realizes what an idiot he is. My issue though is that she caved just 2 months after him putting her through that. I just can’t imagine moving past that so quickly. Also when he decides he’s going to fight for her after those nine weeks, he basically bullies his way back into a relationship with her. He’s basically showing he has not learned anything, and he is still using his privilege and power to force her to do what he wants. I wish he had earned his way back with less force (he forces his way into her girls night out, then force his way into a cab to make sure she gets home, then pushes his way into her house and says he’s not leaving without a kiss). He does stand up for her to his witch of a mother. I think that was a far more meaningful action.

Obviously they all wind up together in the end. I actually really enjoyed the story, and will probably read it again in my reread rotation. I just really hated certain parts.

3 stars.

Couldn't put it down but not my favourite of the TL Swan books I've read.

I just found Dr Stanton himself slightly infuriating. I have enjoy my fair share of obnoxious, domineering, rich (fictional) men in my time but Cameron was just a little bit too much. He just could not manage his own emotions and would not listen to Ashley.

It started off so strong and so steamy and then boom throw a surprise kid in the mix (love me a single Mum romance). Cameron threw his toys out of the pram one too many times for me to be completely in love with him like I am with many of Swan's other love interests. Ashley, our main character, was great, and I just wanted her to kick Camerons ass. If it weren't for the ending I think this would have gotten lower star rating, but even then I wish we could have spent more time with Cam grovelling.

DID NOT FINISH: 40%

Editing was desperately needed and the FMC was insufferable

Holy shit! This book was so good!

I really feel he should have groveled more.
