Recommend keeping a notebook to keep footnotes and references straight. Brilliant

Very informative and interesting. I loved Machiavelli's astute and concise observations, many of which are still relevant today.

Most of the content of this book is no longer relevant to the times we live in today. However, it remains thought-provoking because of its cold-blooded, matter-of-fact approach to practical politics, leaving you to wonder how ethics and morality should play in a world where the "right" thing to do is very often detrimental to success.

I remember enjoying the book reading it but can't seem to remember anything in it lol. It felt more like a guide to the galaxy of being a prince. Was this stuff groundbreaking in the 1600s? People really didn't know that mercenaries could betray you and was worse than your own army?

Probably five stars if not for the myriad mispronunciations on the pair of audiobooks I tried. Shelly Frasier fared better than Rider Strong, but good lord.
Cesare =/= Caesar
Can people* PLEASE learn to pronounce  names before diving into narration? Rider, you’re pretty and I love your voice, but Lombardy, Genoa (ffs), Medici, and on it went.

Otherwise, this is a solid treatise and it seems clear Machiavelli was familiar with Sun Tzu.

Whether or not Machiavelli was winding everyone up is a big question. However, even if he was joking his advice is still relevant to the modern world. If you decide to go down the Slytherin path then this is a book for you. Even if you do not want to behave like a Slytherin then this book is still worthwhile because it pays to be aware of the tactics some people will inevitably decide to use against you at some point in your life.
