A leitura foi meio complicada para mim. Demorei meses para terminar, a história da alguns saltos e tive que voltar algumas vezes. De qualquer forma, foi enriquecedor ler o que Zamyatin imaginou sobre a sociedade os futuro. O que seria do indivíduo se a coisa mais importante de uma sociedade fosse a “vontade coletiva”?

every word feels important which makes it both impressive and exhausting for the same reason

What a journey this book took me on! It felt like a constant roller coaster following D-503 on his journey while simultaneously trying to comprehend the ways of the One State and their philosophies about uniformity and individuality and imagination. The stilted prose that becomes more pervasive as the book continues is a double edged sword - it reflects the chaos that D-503 is undergoing but can also make it a little hard to fully grasp where all his threads of thought are running about. That aside, this truly a delight for fans of this genre!

mmmm love reading classic banned books that paint dystopian worlds that are oddly similar to what is going on in present times

my brain struggled with this one

ending was bleak but realistic for the world it was set in
