I LOVED THIS BOOK! As a YA romance lover, this hit the nail on the head. The banter between the leads had me smiling the whole time. Lynn Painter is a master at writing chemistry! I completely fell in love with these characters. I finished it in 2 days and was sad to reach the end!

I only wish they delved into Charlie’s TUMS anxiety a bit more.

I don't know if it's because I'm getting out of a reading slump, but I'm feeling kinda neutral about this book. I usually like the author's work, but this one felt unfinished and weirdly paced. I enjoyed the characters, their banter, and the fact that they bonded over being children of divorce— I can relate to that— but, at the same time, some scenes felt forced and out of place. I also hated that the author would just drop important information that should have been established from the beginning whenever it was convenient. I'm honestly a bit sad I didn't like the book more since it was clearly inspired by When Harry Met Sally, which is one of my favorite movies, but I just wasn't into it. I hope I'll like the sequel to Better Than the Movies better than this book.

This book felt like a combination of She’s All That and When Harry Met Sally meshed into one. I love all the pop culture and literary/movie references that Lynn Painter includes in her stories.

Lynn Painter really does write such cute young adult stories. I especially liked the dialogue about divorce and custody of children in this one, and I think that could be used in a really powerful and important way. What took away from this story in my opinion, were a few too many swear words and sexual innuendos for a young adult novel in my opinion, so I think readers/parents should be aware of that. Overall, a sweet story with lots of fun moments.

Always love a cute little romance (even if they’re high schoolers)
