seriously
I seriously find it hard to believe that this was the first book author wrote. The dialogue flowed nicely. The text thread was hilarious.

I love found family as a trope. This book did not disappoint! All the characters, including Lanie and Dex, were so easy to love. My only complaint would be the epilogue. It did not feel right to call it that, as it served to be the introduction to the next book rather than the final few pages of Lanie and Dex's story.

Really liked the storyline: single dad to three kids meets the cute nanny that has some past traumas.
Everything about it could make this book so good, however there was something about it that I didn't really like. It felt too fast, the writing felt very wattpady (if u know what i mean) and sometimes the main male character gave me the ick.
And there were 2 things about the female main character that bothered me: First she tells him she has traumas so she may not be able to be intimate with him for some time, which is super valid, however, not kidding u, the next chapter she was already wanting to have sex with himโฆ. it felt weird, not real and kinda shitting on real trauma victims. The second thing was her supposedly, due to her past trauma, couldnt have kidsโฆ however whole and behold miracle surprise pregnancy ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (there is not enough rolling eyes emoji to express my feelings when reading about this). Once again it felt like it was shitting on real woman who cant have childrenโฆ I don't understand why author don't stick with real things, if she couldn't have babies, then she couldn't have babies! I don't understand this need to have a miracle pregnancy every time, as if in the real world its usually like that :/

This is my first Avery Maxwell book and I loved it. For me this story was predominantly about family; it isn't necessarily blood, your family can be those you chose, who love and support you no matter what. Lanie goes through a big journey in her life, such a rollercoaster, and it is so well written. I loved seeing her heal and find love. Dex is wonderful, I love how caring he is with Lanie, how respectful he is of her journey and how he takes things at her pace. Their story is full of heartbreak and love, heartwarming moments and sadness, but there is also some brilliant hilarity, my favourite being the MLM group text chat. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Loved it! I laughed, cried, and got sucked into this family so fast!
I loved everything about this and billionaire tropes are not my favorite. The found family, single dad, small town aspects were perfect! These families were so fun to read and I could picture loud crazy family meals and loved it!
Tate. The little boy!! Loved him!! Kid characters will either make or break the book and Tate crushed it! Loved him so much!! He made me tear up so much!
Lainey went through hell and her story was crazy!
Immediately starting Trevor and Juliaโs book!

I loved how much Dex loves Lainey, it was so sweet and the way he showed it to her each day was adorable. I wasn't a big fan on the 'insta love' but it was so sweet, he accepted her as she is, built her up and worked at her pace, didn't pressure her at any point. I loved how completely he and his kids accepted her into their family, they loved her so fully.
Lainey was really strong and had a really sad background. I felt like this was given a good amount of detail to understand Lainey better but wasn't the only thing about her that was important. She was so kind and bubbly and so good with the children.
There was a good amount of actual plot and some interesting twists and turns with it as well. I liked the inclusion of all the side characters, they felt important in their own way. It really was a chosen family book which I enjoyed.
Also the epilogue was cute.

Not only did I fall in love with Dexter Cross, but also his friend group. I can't wait to read more about each of them finding love. Tate was so adorable. Also everyone should have a friend like Jules. The love and care Dex showed to Lanie was so beautiful. This story will make you laugh, cry and smile.
