I loved it❤️
I just don’t give it 5 stars because of Archeron, he annoyed me so much, the worst character so far.

Update: There's a 5th book that'll be the finale, so I'm stopping here. Not about to push through 1000 pages just to have to wait til next August to read the first four books all over again.
The action in the book is pretty good; so much of the story is dedicated to battles and the journey. It's quite a fun read. I didn't anticipate a lot of what unfolded. I wasn't even expecting for the curse to be broken halfway through, but I think it'll allow for some interesting developments in the second half of the series.
Personally, I wasn't thrilled with the romance between Haven and Archenon; it came about quite suddenly and, from where I stand, was definitely more lust-driven than anything.
I have a feeling, since the author wanted ACOTAR vibes, that Archenon won't be who Haven is with in the end and that he might even become a manner of antagonist, seeing how Haven seems entwined with the Noctis, his natural enemy, and clearly has some connection with Stola, but that's just my guess based on what people tend to take away from ACOTAR.
Although the book does have its own arc and accomplishes a major goal, it still feels a little too... middle book, for me to feel super satisfied. There's too many things I can think of that were set up here and there wasn't enough time dedicated to celebrating a curse-free world, so it doesn't come with the same satisfaction and respite I like to see after a book accomplishes a major goal.
Not much else to say; it was a nice read. Still not my new favorite or anything, but it's definitely a fun read that's trying hard to have a good amount of plot and world building, rather than being a lust-drowning romance in the veneer of a fantasy.
Also, again, Haven could be a real fucking brat. Her insistence on runes in her flesh just made me imagine her as a child puffing out their cheeks to pout as they demand candy or something. I know the author probably wants me to like her character and then pity her when she proves flawed but like... when Haven's stupidity and childishness bite her in the ass, I actually smile.
I hope she learns better during the next ~1000 pages of the story. Otherwise I might have to abandon ship during the next book.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed this book and plan to read the next one but I wanted so much more from it. This book, had the author put more time and effort into it could have been amazing. Just was kinda a flop in my book because everything felt rushed.

I’m still somewhat confused on the storyline. The world building is kind of confusing and could be more clear?? Love the main character though and if the author continues to grow I think it will be a good series. 3.5 stars!
Interesting twist. Some things I saw coming. Some I did not. Can't wait to finish this series.
Much better than the first one
I found the first one a little slow but was much easier to get into. Highly recommend for fans of Throne of Glass.
