"Fear has envy in it somewhere. You may not believe it, but there are many who wish to wield the power that I wield."
Finally, the Fallen series has picked up a little more and actually developed itself. Passion captures many of the elements that made Fallen and Torment fail in my eyes, but for the most part--I felt like I walked away knowing something more in this installment. One of the things that made me less than keen on the previous two books in Lauren Kate's bestselling series was that we know very little of Lucinda's past lives, the curse, the angels and demons, or her relationship with Daniel.
We know virtually nothing besides the present and every time we get a little closer to learning something, we get tossed into this back-and-forth of love and angst that gets a little tiring. Fallen's lack of development and the trope of instant-love just didn't mix well with its premise and, frankly, kept tripping over itself. In Passion, we see Lucinda's past lives as she travels through them with a new-and-mysterious companion who may or may not have the best intentions for the series' heroes. To say it straight, Passion (though flawed) lives up to the groundwork that Kate has been setting up since book one and puts the other two installments in the dust.
My biggest problem with Passion is a mixed bag of, "How many times do we have to see the same love at first sight plotline drag on and catch fire?" and "Where is everyone else?"--while Passion was developed far better than any of the other books in the series, it still left a lot to be desired and is not going to be for everyone. Mostly, it's the love story--tragedy and angst, longing and lust--that we've already seen, just set in different time periods.
I did enjoy getting a little more context on who Lucinda had been through her lives. I've always had a fascination with past lives and what ties them together, so I did enjoy this aspect and was excited to see it play out. I also enjoyed seeing Lucinda away from Daniel, Cam and the others we've come to know. Even with the stranger presence of her new "friend", it felt like she was standing on her own two feet and getting things done on her own time--which I appreciated.
The pacing was hit or miss with Passion. Because of the ever-present theme of love, there were a lot of times that felt too similar to others. The pace was saved by the chase of it all; everyone out in the timelines trying to find Lucinda, while Lucinda was trying to find herself scattered through time and space. It kept the story moving even when the plotlines didn't.
I think some of my favourite parts about Passion were the ones where everyone noticed something was going amiss with the timelines and then the big Lucifer reveal. Not to mention the moments where we learn more about their fates and just how long the group has been together. All of the familiar faces and the moments were things grow more complicated.
I also appreciated the glimpse into Cam's past but that won't be a surprise to anyone, because he is one of the most intriguing characters in the series to me for one reason or another.
That being said, Passion was a lot more fun than Fallen and Torment but still far from a favourite book in my eyes. I can definitely see what draws fans in--especially the romantic at heart--and why it has drawn so many comparisons to the Twilight series. Overall, it was a perfectly light novel to indulge in and I'm glad that I've stuck with it as far as I have because Passion was certainly the best installment yet.

I really enjoyed this book. It was my favorite of the series by far.
It was incredible to see different, past incarnations of Luce and shows that everything seems to happen for a reason. I loved the ending and thought it was great way to make you want to read the next book.
This book didn't disappoint me as I thought it would! I even enjoy it which is weird because I was reading them just to finish the saga and don't leave it unfinished.
I'M SO GLAD LUCE FINALLY DECIDE TO MAKE HER OWN DECISIONS! And Lauren finally let us know more about Luce and Daniel relationship which in my opinion it should had happened at the first book, not wait until the third one! Again i love all the characters except Daniel, I'm starting to support Luce but not Daniel and i actually like Bill and Luce interaction! (Yeah i know he's the "bad" one but i felt that he really try to help her.
My hope for this series came back so let's hope they don't dissapoint me on the next one.

This is another wonderful book in the fallen series.
and yes another cliffhanger too.
But the cliffhangers are getting better with each book. the first book, i was left in shock. the second book, i was left thinking ok this isn't so bad, a bit of a cliffhanger but i could deal with it.
and this book i thought it was i thought it might be best to put my comment in spoiler mode for those sensitive people out there(i don't think it was too spoilerish but hey it might be to someone else.
For those of you who haven't read Fallen and Torment, you can still read this book. but it is preferable that you read the entire series in book order, beacuse it does refer a lot to previous themes and plots.
Luce, is on a path to discovery about the curse. and daniel is chasing after her on what he later discovers was his own path of discovery.
if you are a bit of a history buff you will enjoy this book, as luce travels back in time to discover why daniel loves her and why they are cursed.
i have to admit i do get frustrated at luce sometimes. but i'm am simply capivated by the story.

**SPOILERS** beware (unless you wanna ruin it for yourself) :)
Absolutely amazing!! I dunno what else to say really...
I loved the places that Luce went and it was so sweet how much Daniel loved her in each past life but the parts where she dies were awful. It was so sad, especially certain ones like in Egypt when i though she was going to kill herself and the one when daniel tried to commit suicide (even though it was never gonna happen).
I would have never figured out what Bill really was. I was so shocked, especially considering he was helping Luce the whole way.
I love the ending and I can't believe that they have 9 days!! (people who have read Passion will know what I'm on about). It seems impossible. Some people have said that they want Luce to be with Cam but I think that Luce and Daniel have been through too much to just have it ended. This really is true love but i really hope Lucifer doesn't win.
I cannot wait a whole YEAR for Rapture to come out. It is going to be torture but it is worth the wait. I am giving this book 9/10 as it was great, lots of detail and i loved each past life luce expirienced. Brilliant book!!

Every single lifetime, I'll choose you. Just as you have chosen me. Forever."
Passion by Lauren Kate, wow. I didn't see that one coming. With each book in the Fallen series that I read, I've been slowly becoming a bigger fan. If I'm honest, I wasn't completely convinced with Fallen. I liked the setting and the idea but I wanted more. I decided to give Torment a chance anyway and it completely turned around what I thought of the story and the characters. I liked how Luce asserted herself more, explored other options in terms of love interests andin the end, struck out on her own. When Luce jumps into the announcer at the end of Torment, I actually cheered. I thought 'good for you!' and couldn't wait to find out what she'd uncover. I was far from disappointed.
And now in Passion, we have this strange flit through time as Luce is on a mission for answers, both with her relationship with Daniel and of the curse that she has been afflicted with. She needs to see proof of this epic love that she supposedly shares with Daniel. And oh boy, does she. Passion is filled with so much romance that I almost couldn't bear it at points. Some of Daniel and Luce's interactions are so tense and fraught with emotion. Some lives they barely touch or say anything, others they are able to spend longer periods of time with each other, getting to know each other and falling in love gradually. It was really sweet to read so many different types of love shared between the two over time.
I also loved all of the different historical settings that we find Luce in, from war-torn Russia to a courtly France and a secluded island on the Indian ocean. It was very exciting for me to read of the different clothing and circumstances that Luce finds herself in. And it's very eye-opening for Luce as well, as she is able to view her relationship with Daniel in a very different light. She sees him destroyed and broken and almost without hope after she dies. She sees him as he falls in love with other versions of herself that are bitchy or mean and comes to value the strength of his love and the sacrifices and hardships that the both of them make in order to spend very little time together. It's very moving and this is the first time that I really felt like Daniel and Luce really do need to be together. I'm completely and utterly behind their relationship and their love now. Just as Luce needs to be convinced, so did I. And I think Lauren Kate did a fantastic job in Passion.
But it isn't all about Luce either. Daniel and Luce's friends have all jumped into announcers on a hunt for Luce through time. Daniel, of course, understandably feeling very threatened that Luce might change the course of their shared history and it might all have been for nothing. I think the mystery of Luce dying every time is done quite cleverly, as along with Luce we learn really important clues into who or what has been behind the curse.
Enough is revealed that makes me incredibly, hugely excited for the next book in the series. Bring it on, Lauren Kate!

I’m not going to deny that their love transcends time, but WHY do they love each other so passionately in the first place? Probably my favourite in the series.
Ugh #3 in a series of books with no answers. It was better than 2 as some things were finally revealed but she should have skipped book 2 made 3 the next one. I am loathed to say I'm finishing the series, but the story line is good
I pushed through this book because of was hoping to finally reach the conclusion I think we all knew by the end of the first book.
I remember telling my girlfriend if It doesn't get revealed in this book I am going to shelve the series. To my dismay the reveal is drawn out over 4 books! I honestly didn't find it intriguing I found it started to just get old.
I love the characters and they held such potential I moved on to one more book
The time travel was the highlight of this series. I enjoyed meeting the different versions of lucinda and Daniel.
