Cute romance, like a story highlighting dads, especially one where the dads are imperfect parents trying their hardest. The shift from hate to kissing felt a bit abrupt - I'd have rathered a bit more of a build up - but I enjoyed the banter and bickering between the two MMCs.
To note: there's a HP reference, which I could have done without. It's too recent a book to pretend not to know why.

This was fun!
The revulsion between the MCs at first was so strong, I wasn't sure if I'd like the love story development, since it seemed really unlikely they'd ever get along. But this was executed well and I quickly forgot what they were bitching about in the first place. I loved the kids, they really were super cute. The whole forced prox situation wasn't as forced as I thought it'd be, and it's definitely not an enemies-are-in-forced-proximity-situation, just if that's what you're not looking for.
The pacing was totally fine, the humour was great, and as someone with anxiety, the little bit of focus on living in constant stress over if your loved ones are okay was great representation, even though I would have wished for a more emotional focus regarding this rep. But I guess it is a lighthearted typical AJ Truman book :D

Thoughts while reading:
-in the beginning I seriously dislike Russ. How unprofessional and inappropriate is it to reprimand another parent repeatedly in front of everyone for punctuality. And he was hurtful in his superior attitude and dismissiveness.
-really can’t believe they did what they did while chaperoning a trip. They could have been caught so easily
-so Malcolm comes up occasionally, but I was a little surprised that Russ didn’t have more or any guilt on getting physical with Cal in the beginning since he was the first guy he had been with since his husband, even though it was four years. I’m not saying he should, it’s just common for widows to go through that.
I liked it, but had the above issues. It should probably be more like a 3 with those things I didn’t like, but the things I liked outweighed it and I’ll give it a 4.

3.75 This was a cozy read. I loved that it involved a “bear” of a man. He had a belly and loved sweets and Russ thought Cal was hot!
This was a second chance at live since both had lost their first loves and both were single dads.
Enemies to lovers and opposite attract! The banter was good and fun.
I enjoyed this read and will have to continue the series.
