Too many tent jokes - while funny was too repetitive.
That aside, adorable from beginning to end. Refreshing to read an older mm couple who use their life experience to communicate well and navigate their new relationship. No drama. Well there’s dramatics but not drama.

I was so close to giving this 5 stars, so maybe it’s closer to 4.5 stars. AJ Truman is quickly becoming one of my comfort read authors. This book was so cute! I loved Cal and Russ, and their sons were even more adorable. And being a fan of camping myself, I loved the nostalgia it brought on for what it’s like to spend a weekend in the woods. Excited for the next book in this series!
This story was refreshing in an odd sort of way. Both men were single for different reasons, and had thought they would never be with someone for different reasons.
A grump and a sunshine, an enemies to lovers, and an HEA. This was a ride through emotions and introspection.

Review previously placed on my blog:
I'm currently reading The falcon and the foe by A.J. Truman. This is the first book in the Single dads club series. I'm listening to the audiobook. This is an adult romance book with LGBTQ+ characters.
The start of this one was very good. It is an actual enemies to lovers book. I really like the single dad aspect and like the main characters a lot. Unfortunately there were references to a certain book that I really don't want to read, especially in a book published in 2022 by a queer author. Makes me very angry and very disappointed in the author. Still enjoying the book, but it has definitely stayed in my mind. Going to decrease my rating because of this for sure.
It was mentioned one more time unfortunately. Had to take a whole star off for this. Story itself was still very good. A lot of smutty scenes. Romance between the men was very nice and cute. I am conflicted about reading another book from this author though.
