Rule Breaker was the first book I've read by this author, prompting me to go back and read the "prequel" and the others in this series. The way the characters were written, the way the story line developed, and just the overall way to book flowed made this very enjoyable for me. She quickly became one of my favorite authors. And I love that each book is a standalone that builds on each other. As her world expands, I cannot wait to see where evrything goes.

Rule Breaker by Nikki Hall
Spice Rating: 2.5/5
Soren & Vi. Two people who don't let others in, breaking down their walls for eachother. Overall, this was a good book. Vi is a strong female character who isn't afraid to stand up for those she cares about no matter who she faces. Soren is swoony. He has been protective of Vi since the start, and with his flirty lines, I don't blame Vi for falling. I wish there was more back story for Vi and that her brothers were more involved. I also wish there was more to the ending of the story.. I feel like there was so much more potential with their story.

Soren is swoony
This is a fake relationship book that turned not fake almost right from the start.
I do not love nor hate the fake dating trope but I do think that the reasons for faking the relationship are usually stupid or shallow. Pretending to be in a serious relationship so the parents would think he's not going wild while in college? Hmmm... flimsy, but I'll take it.
I loved Soren. Such a solid guy. His flirty lines in the beginning got to me too so I don't fault Vi for giving in. He was protective of Vi from the start, he respected her, and I love that he didn't do anything stupid when he realized he was feeling more for her.
I honestly thought there was going to be some stupid third act breakup but the good news is there wasn't. Both characters were very levelheaded and I love that kind of maturity.
Will reread in the future? Probably.
Do I recommend? Definitely.

Soren: “What would it take to win the top spot?”
Vi: "It would take every day. Choosing me, every day, as the most important thing in your life, but you’re not interested in that.”

cute!
It’s was a good one! Medium on the smut but it’s there, and of course everything has to come with drama but really a cute story. No dark though which it so could have gone- but that’s just my preferences coming in so if looking for a dark romance this one doesn’t go evil, mean at times for sure with judgmental families, well there has to be that with football come on! Still good!
