Wow, this was a stunner.
What you think and what you want to prove can be deadly.
Great pace, more insight into characters.
Good solid read!

Firstly, I don't quite agree with the book summary. Nevertheless I made a few notes in case I forgot what happened in this book.
A lady by the name of Marissa Lewis was murdered late on Christmas Eve. She was a burlesque dance. She had affairs with several men in the neighbourhood. Plus she was an assistant for a very aged wealthy lady (Mrs Fryatt). Marissa blackmailed one of the men for money, because she was underage the first time they slept together. After a thorough investigation, Erika found some old papers/photos hidden in a frame in Marissa's house. These were papers showing Mrs Fryatt was an old Nazi officer who worked at a Nazi Concentration Camp in WWII. Marissa knew about this and blackmailed Mrs Fryatt and her son. Because Mrs Fryatt couldn't do it anymore, and she wanted to ensure her secret won't come out, she decided to murder Marissa.

Erika Foster is on her way to Christmas lunch when she comes across a crime scene and jumps in to help. She finds a young woman stabbed to death on her doorstep and Detective Erika Foster along with her team rush to find the murderer who has a habit of attacking victims while wearing a gas mask.
Deadly Secrets is the 6th book in the Detective Erika Foster series by author Robert Bryndza and is as entertaining as the others in the series.it’s a fast paced police procedural with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing and an unpredictable ending . Cannot wait to read the next one in the series !
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review.

Deadly Secrets by Robert Bryndza
A Detective Erika Foster Novel #6
Murder, Mystery and Misfortune befall more than one in this novel that is predominately a police procedural but also provides insight into families and some of the lives of characters Erika knows.
The book starts out with the murder of Marissa – a young woman who earns some of her money doing burlesque dancing in theaters. She also makes money on the side in a variety of rather unethical ways. The murder is brutal and the killer masked so even the CCTV camera that has footage does not indicate who the murderer is. With other incidents occurring in which persons are attacked by someone wearing a gasmask like the one on the CCTV film the police believe that if they catch the masked man they will have their murderer.
There are a few red herrings, a suicide, a number of people accosted, a police detective in danger, Erika’s father-in-law in need, and a surprise twist at the end that was perhaps not 100% believable but still unexpected adding a further dimension to the story. In some ways I would have preferred the masked man to be the only culprit but…I didn’t write the book.
I enjoyed seeing how Erika is doing and would like to read more of her story in future books. I am not sure what I have missed in the previous four books but did not need to read them for this book to flow easily and stand as a story on its own.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I was always looking forward to every train ride and bed time to pick up my Erika foster fix. Hurry with the next Robert!
