I am really surprised I liked this. Yes, I did predict the ending before even reading the book. Again, the dragon banter was the best part of the book. I will read Onyx Storm.
Was this book worth all the hype? Absolutely not. But with how saturated romatasy is right now, definitely not the worst thing Ive read.

Possible spoilers:
Not to be critical for a book that was hyped too much on Booktok.
I have given this book 3 stars for the reasons of
a) This could have been a shorter book if the protagonists are not that horny.
b) The twists of the book are… anti-climactic.
Nonetheless, it could have been a 4 stars, if there’s more lore into it. I do not think that it was fleshed out as much which it also feels like wasted potential. So I hope it gets more attention on that front.
I liked the 1st book because if Violet, but for this book, I’d say Jesinia is my new fave! The found family trope this book brings makes me so happy, and how much the friendships are portrayed here! It still hurts that they are now down to 4… :(

Having accepted that Fourth Wing read like it was written by a 13-year-old fanfiction author, I went into Iron Flame ready to just enjoy the ride. And for the most part, I did—but wow, was it frustrating at times.
Andarna’s sweet, kind personality, which contrasted so well with Tairn’s gruffness in the first book, was completely wiped out by the excuse of "adolescence." And don’t even get me started on the sheer amount of miscommunication between Violet and Xaden—so much of their conflict could have been solved with one honest conversation.
That being said, the ending has me intrigued, and I’m still excited to see where the series goes next. Here’s hoping book three brings some better character development along with the drama.
