I was between 4 and 5 stars but i honestly loved every second of this book. i can’t help it that i eat up every single hockey player + figure skater book

S. J. Sylvis did it again. Ice Bet is the second book in the series, and we got glimpses of Aasher in the first book. As soon as I read about the coach's daughter, I knew this one was going to be messy and sweet like the forbidden fruit it is.

I never thought Aasher would be the responsible one in the team, except for Theo, the captain, obviously. He fought so hard against his feelings for Riley, because his number one priority is hockey, the team, and going pro. As we delve deeper into his history, not forgetting about his huge secret that nobody knows about, we get a better picture of him. He has a heart of gold, is a team player, and has a sweet spot for his family in his heart. I give it to him; he tried to keep a distance from the coach's daughter, but he failed, and it was so sweet. The angst in this book is top notch. These two were always around each other, teasing the other, perfectly balanced. If I ever need a tutor or a helping hand, I want it to be Aasher; his teaching technique is pretty unique and tempting, and I'm here for it. Also, I think it's safe to say that this is the spiciest book of the author. He definitely has a mouth on him, a dirty one, and his dominant self is so yummy. I would obey him in a minute.

Our FMC is a feisty one. I love her little game with the guys and her separate game with Aasher even more. She's been through a lot, and I can do nothing but admire who she turned out to be after everything. And I'm so proud of her for overcoming her last fear; yes, Aasher was there with her, but she did the job. I think in real life, we would be friends. We have so much in common.

I love the guys on the team, well, except one; you will see why I say this. The unit, how they always have each other's backs, I'm a goner. I already said it before, but I have to say it again: S. J. Sylvis's writing is so beautiful, entertaining, and you will admire her words; she is amazing, the definition of an autobuy author.

You know the feeling when you read a book, and you just feel a strong pull to a character, even if said character is not the main one? This is Ford to me. I literally highlighted everything that left his mouth. So when I tell you I'm so excited for the next book, it's an understatement. I call dibs on him. I said what I said. I know it's not official yet, but I believe I know who his lady is, and it's going to be so much fun for sure. If you're a fan of an angsty, spicy, forbidden hockey romance, I'm thrilled to tell you that you've found your next read.

Mostly good but a little too much made up drama where people just needed to talk to one another

Hilarious! This banter was great. A sweet little college story about forbidden romance. Aasher soothed Riley anxiety and helped her be her best self. The story had so much going on. The flirting, the drama, the support, the love.

Aasher mysterious past brought something else to the story. The fact growth people are willing to ruin young adult futures instead of paying attention to their own child is annoying. *spoiler* the freaking mayor punching Aasher, bro I was livid! Just for the mayor daughter to apologize for the actions. I would have loved for the mayor to get chewed out by his daughter in a busy hockey arena.

The ending just brought up to much. The rivalry  though-out the whole book lead to the past repeating itself. And to me that was unnecessary, the author could have played that out differently.

Fast ending and HEA — would like more togetherness of the couple.
