Kept reminding me of Buddhism, but with a purely intellectualized, evidence-based approach that probably would have worked better for me in my teens or twenties. Now it just strikes me like it has taken a challenging spiritual path and written it up in the format of a to do list. 

Just accept yourself exactly as you are and turn toward your emotions, whether positive or negative? Easy peasy. Not at all a life's work that might require a teacher, a practice, and a whole community of fellow seekers for support.
