Okay, this book was SO CUTE. When looking at the title, I thought the hooker would be the heroine and the hermit would be the hero, but it’s the other way around! I didn’t know that hooker was a Rugby term 😂.
Annie was so relatable, and understandably closed off. And I have never met a hero that manifested his romantic relationship like Ronan Fitzpatrick 🤣. He was very upfront about liking Annie, and some of his lines had me giggling 🤭.
“Ah, we’re not strangers, Annie,” I whispered against her lips. “We’ve already shared a cozy elevator ride, I’ve cleaned your top, and you’ve sent me a very odd a picture of a question-mark clock. We’re practically dating.”
…
“There is nothing perfect about my face.”
I cleared my throat, trying to force the teasing back into my tone. “Your lips are perfect.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
“No.” She rolled them between her teeth.
“You forget—I’ve kissed those lips, so now I’m an expert.”

I'm a little wishy washy on the rating of this one....
At the beginning there were many personality issues that I didn't like with Ronan. He was pushy and (personally) not in an alpha-hot way. In the creepy why is he acting this way kind of way. It was so obvious that Annie was uncomfortable in so many situations and it honestly made me uncomfortable some of the time.
By the end of the book, because of the nature of their relationship, it was fine. But Annie and Ronan never really dealt with any of these issues?
Other than the kind of disappearing act a lot of their personality issues did, this was a fun read. It was so nice seeing Annie come out of her shell. And Ronan chilling tf out.
I wasn't in love with the back and forth and back and forth of who was unhappy with who and who wanted the relationship to work and blah blah. It felt like filler instead of plot.
I'm also glad that I didn't read this one first. I either wouldn't have continued the series or I would have not liked Sean as much in the next book.

Spoiler
The whole "you're not allowed to be in your apartment with other guys" thing seemed way too overprotective way too soon.Other than the kind of disappearing act a lot of their personality issues did, this was a fun read. It was so nice seeing Annie come out of her shell. And Ronan chilling tf out.

Penny Reid can do no wrong in my book, and although I’ve only read one book by L.H. Cosway, I was impressed with her writing style. I thought pairing up these two intelligent and witty authors to write a book together was a smart move. It was with great anticipation that I settled in to spend an entertaining weekend reading The Hooker and the Hermit.
I do love a quirky heroine, and you don’t get much quirkier than Annie Catrel. She’s a painfully shy social recluse who only feels confident when she’s running her popular entertainment blog. When she’s blogging, she gets to express her clever personality, while dissecting the appearance and lifestyle of celebrities.
Annie’s real job is a social media expert who reforms the images of disgraced celebrities – think Robert Downey, Jr., Britney Spears, or Drew Barrymore. Her new client is Ronan Fitzpatrick, Ireland’s best hooker (a hooker is the football equivalent of a quarterback), and current bad boy of the press. If he wants to be released from his suspension from his team, he needs Annie’s help. An attraction develops between the pair, but can Annie – a woman who has only ever had virtual friendships – open herself up to a true relationship, or perhaps even love?
The book starts off strong, with lots of banter and sexual innuendo, as Ronan tries to break through Annie’s tough shell. He’s a man on a mission to win her over, and he won’t stop until he gets what he wants. The rest of the book, however, is quite slow.
Initially, I could understand Annie’s fears. However, eventually I began to feel Annie was taking advantage of Ronan’s patience, and I could no longer figure out what made her so appealing to him. There’s a lot of Ronan expressing his feelings for her, and Annie retreating and giving little in return. Given all his reassurances, I kept wondering what her problem was. Ultimately, there was too much on again, off again between the couple to hold my interest. Yes, the story is witty, and the characters are interesting, but it took me way too long to finish. Sadly, this one just didn’t live up to my expectations.

The Hooker and the Hermit was a really fun and quick read. This book gives you Ronan Fitzgerald, who is the Irish bad boy of rugby (talk about swoooning guys). He makes some bad decisions which get him suspended form the team (#badboystatus) and he decides to lay low in NYC. HA! Laying low in NYC? Yeah, riiiight. Unsurprisingly, he wants to stay out of the spotlight (because he hates it) and only wants to focus on improving his image and everything else. Well, until Annie comes along that is...
Annie works for a media company and her specialty is basically revamping terrible reputations for famous people. She is super smart but gets easily tongue tied around people. She's not shy... no she would rather be super invisible. I don't know why someone would choose to be invisible but hey.. she is afraid of a lot of things. However, she is super famous in the blogosphere. Now I've never had a blog nor have I decided if I wanted one or not. But hey, Annie is cool and I loved her character a whole bunch.
Now the chemistry was off the charts and highly interesting between Annie and Ronan. Ugh, swooning up and down guys. Yes, he tries to just get in her pants but then he really does fall for her because she is such a genuine person. Well, Annie definitely falls for him too!
Overall, I really enjoyed this story and loved their relationship form. I can't wait to dive into the second book of this series!

I loved this it was an incredible original story with multi dimensional characters and a plot pulling you in straight away, it had me howling with laughter as the authors pinpoint psyche's and mannerisms down to a T.
Ronan Fitz the hunky and slightly broken rugby player who falls for the socially inept and awkward Annie as they are thrown together to clean spring clean his tarnished image. Obviously they encounter some hurdles along the way, but the attraction simmers as hot as a goulash.
Annie has become a firm favorite of mine strong without being overbearing, fighting against all that's familiar and safe for a overgrown leprechaun. Even the side characters each exuded enough mystery to come across as incredibly interesting, rather than a plot filler in the background.
Funniest and quirkiest romance i have read in a while 5 huge stars!

More like 3.5 stars. I loved the beginning, but the last half felt a bit interminable.
I loved this book. At times hilarious, then emotional it unfolds in layers. Annie and Ronan don't give up heir secrets easily. But their instant attraction, his filthy flirting, and her dirty recriminations take your heartstrings from he word go.
