I could not finish this book. I made it about a third of the way in before I quit. The heroine was not so much an introvert as extremely childish. It simply wasn't believable that she was a media relations expert.

The hero was a "jock" type with really poor boundary issues that verged on sexual harassment.

I was disappointed because I really enjoyed the Knitting in the City series and I wanted to like this one too. But no. Wrong series for me.

Pretty funny, your standard Penny Reid heroine. She’s smart but socially awkward, has an awkward romance. It was cute

The hero was nice too, his mother was a piece of work.

Not bad for a freebie.

So if you know me at all, you know I love me some Penny Reid and I couldn’t imagine that I wouldn’t love Penny Reid with another author…and, I WAS RIGHT! It took me a while to finally get to this book but that doesn’t mean that it wasn’t whispering in the back of my head, begging me to read it because I knew that it was going to be brilliant.

Yes, yes to all of it. It was brilliant. It was well written and thought out. It is the kind of book that you fall in love with because you love the two main characters, Annie and Ronan. You love the awkwardness of their encounters and the pureness of their beings. The two are different in every aspect. Ronan is used to fame since he is a fantastic Rugby player while Annie is exactly what the title calls her, a hermit. She is confident behind the screen of her computer but when it comes to social outings, Annie is backward in every way.

Annie is hired to change Ronan’s public image, a task that she is a master at but has no want to do so. However, Ronan has made it clear that if it is to be done then Annie is the only one he will work with. This brings the two closer and makes super adorable moments that made me sigh in content and swoon (for Ronan.) Remember me telling you that Annie is an introvert and because of her childhood she doesn’t even try to build relationships with people? No? I didn’t? Well, she is an introvert who doesn’t even have a friend because she never wants to feel the feeling of abandonment again. This proves to be a tricky situation since Ronan is running full force into their relationship while Annie takes one step forward and two steps back. Each character has a fault that can destroy this relationship but together they might just overcome it if both are willing.

L.H. and Penny are perfect together because they both bring this element of witty banter, dirty whisperers, brilliant humor, and a perfect sense of romance.

This was a fun one. People being quite this scarred by their childhoods always drives me a little batty and it almost went on too long. But it ended just right.

A really fun read from new to me author L.H. Cosway. Annie does really well at her job, working as a social media consultant helping celebrities rescue their image. What she loves most is the fact that she doesn't need to interact in person with people because she is so incredibly shy. Ronan is an Irish rugby star who needs to take a break from the sport to clean up his image. A stay in New York leads him to the firm Annie's working at and he's instantly attracted. As they are thrown together to try and clean up his image Annie slowly opens up to Ronan in a way she hasn't been able to before. But a secret she's hidden may tear them apart before they are really able to find their happiness. I loved the banter and the humor and how Annie slowly opened up, especially since she was so painfully shy. Great read!

DID NOT FINISH

Well, this is awkward. DNF at 36%??? Considering I apparently "suggested" this for our buddy read?! LOL! SORRY LADIES, but I just couldn't get into the story. I kept getting distracted and finding reasons to do something else. It couldn't even tempt me enough to sneak in some reading time while at work and running errands. :/

2.5 stars. While the male lead was not your typical alphahole sports maniac I just couldn't get past the constant references to the female lead's intelligence. "She's very smart," came up ad nauseum and felt like a weak pass at what could have been some spectacular character development.
