I struggled to finish this book. I felt the writing style was repetitive and the author could have wrapped this book up in a tighter format. It was more like reading someone's journal. I liked several of her points; i.e. Facing your fears head on and doing something that may be outside of ones comfort zone, making time for what is important her children and her health, being proud of ones accomplishments and acknowledging compliments not hiding behind embarrassment or shyness. This was a book club selection, probably not something I would have picked on my own. I have watched two of her three tv programs, and a lot of what she writes about is echoed in one of her shows dialogue. Our group discussed her transition physically which was very obvious when we watched her interviews on various news programs. Her confidence grew over time as she lost weight and it showed. I try to find something good in every book I read and my one take away is that we all have a chance to be successful and it is up to us to get up and go get that success, it won't be handed to you.

Shonda Rhimes is hilarious, insightful, and incredibly relatable. I really enjoyed Year of Yes and truly appreciated the message behind her memoir. I recommend the audiobook!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was so in her life, feeling her pain, laughing, and eating. I am sure that there will be a "Yes" movement. I am surely on board!!

Really awesome book with great food for thought! Highly recommend it as an audiobook since Shonda Rimes narrates it and a few speeches she references are included from the live events.

This was alright, typical self help bio. A little repetitive but I loved learning some of the traits of Shonda's characters are parts of who she actually is and I appreciated all the ShondaLand references.

Great book, particularly if you are a fan of hers! 👍
