I read this book pretty quickly, which usually means I really like it. I think with this book, it was because I just wanted to finish so I could move on to my next book. I was interested in what was going to happen with the main character, but I feel like about 1/2 of the book could have been eliminated. It dragged in the middle. There are a few romantic moments for the main character, but the emotion around them was lacking. Overall, just an okay book. It wasn't a waste of time to read, but I'm glad I'm done.

So the fact that I started this book on May 26 and read 2 books inbetween and didn't finish it until yesterday pretty much tells you what I thought of the book. It was just eh....it was slow, I didn't really care too much about Georgia...the long drawn out trip to Italy was just ok for me...and that's saying alot, because most things concerning Italy are usually WOW's for me :)It picked up once she got home and began working towards her own place. So...2.5 stars for this one.

This was a fun and lighthearted book that was perfect for my current frame of mind. A woman falls on tough times, personally and professionally, and runs to Italy where it all, as expected, falls into place for her. I can't tell you this book will cause you to think deeply, but for me, it drew me in and made me want to keep reading but didn't require a whole lot of mental energy to keep going.

I love books about cooking. I grabbed this book without really looking at it--- and assumed it was another chef writing about their experience in the kitchen. I quickly (once I opened it) figured out that I was wrong.
This is a poorly written story of a female chef who is unhappy at her job and at home....her world magically falls apart, she hides (cause it is SO horrible) in Tuscany to heal her (superficial) wounds...and then magically.... oh. Don't want to spoil. And....surprisingly she doesn't get along with her parents. She loves her dog. There is nothing redeeming to the story (I was stuck without another book away from home)....and I could have written a better ending in my sleep.
The author includes RANDOM descriptions/explanations of things that the reader doesn't really care about...and the protagonist, Georgia? She never made her likable...or her problems real. I found myself not caring what happened.
Read if you are desperate to escape....you know what? DON'T read....stay in your life and confront whatever you are avoiding. :)

I picked this book because the topic was something that I particularly enjoy: cooking and food! However, the plot turned out to be dry and rather predictable. Overall, there was nothing in it that kept me from wanting to just throw it down and pick up a new book.

2.5 - a beach read that doesn’t require a lot of investment.
