Sounds stupid but I am already doing a re-read on comic books. Not that I feel like I need it but since I want to read more about each collection, superhero, anti-hero, villain and learn/ understand the complexity of the comic book world and its multiverses, canon/ non-canon... and so much more- I felt the need to put in a bit more effort. So a re-read at work felt natural!

New 52's Nightwing kicks off right after ending his short lived career as a super spy. Going back to his roots, where he felt the most comfortable and where he felt he made the most difference - Nightwing. Working now for the Court of Owls, he plots their demise carefully after being forced to join them in order to save Damian.

Nightwing must now figure out how to protect his family, keep his morals all the while deceiving the Owls and his new dark partner Raptor.

Tim Seeley's approach to Nightwing were revealed during the Rebirth One shot and it was clear he was going to make Nightwing a mix of Super Spy meets vigilante - aka James bond meets batman but this was the first actual portrayal of such idea . The mere Title of the book creates a huge deal of anticipation , calling the book and the Titular hero "Better Than Batman" makes for a huge deal of work to be done by the author and somehow nothing relevant comes out in this book to prove the validity of the statement . Sure all the usual charms of Nightwing were present here but that's all you get Charms and nothing else . And Certainly the Challenge thrown the previous Nightwing writer Tom King, who incidentally is the new Batman author about Nightwing story being "Better than Batman" sure looks like a falsified claim at the moment with Seeley looking to borrow both "court of owls" storyline from scott snyder and the "grayson" storyline from Tom King

The Art was also not good for this one . The sketches , the colouring all looked a bit weird and i don't know but feels like when you compare all the issues in the rebirth saga this might well be the worst art out there

Not a bad start but not a great one either. This looks to be a promising book, but at the same time not necessarily one that I "have" to read bi-monthly...

Liked this at first blush, but became less and less excited about it as it went on. Like that the cheeky sense of humor and globe-trotting have transferred here from 'Grayson', but Raptor toes the line of being too big.

Richard/Ric/Dick might be starting to get his memory back (although he's going to struggle false memories from the Court's brainwashing), there's the lingering implication that the Court of Owls arc is far from over, and the final moments with Bea were unspeakably sweet. An excellent issue!
