four stars for snubbing Pluto. my boy is a planet!
in all seriousness though, the art is incredible and reading the book was fun even though I'm very much not the demographic for it.

The lovely Shannon was kind enough to gift me this glorious copy of Jean’s book of Greek Myths recently and I had the best time reading it this weekend!
Aimed primarily at kids (although I learned loads!) it takes the reader on a journey through the myths, legends and hero’s of Ancient Greece and shows how those old stories still show up today.
It’s cleverly written, gorgeously illustrated and I’d highly recommend it!

I was actually really impressed with this book. First of all, the illustrations are stunning. Let's just get that out of the way. Second, it recounted the stories of Greek mythology in a very accessible way while also not dumbing it down, which can sometimes happen in children's nonfiction. I was really captivated by the stories. I'm not nearly as well versed in Greek mythology as I would like to be, and this book kind of lit a fire under me and got me really interested in the topic. It was nice to put the stories I am already familiar with in perspective while also discovering many new stories as well.
After reading this book (in one sitting, may I add) I spent a couple of hours watching YouTube videos on Greek mythology, particularly on my two new favorite myths: Artemis & Orion and Eros & Psyche. I also really liked the story of Atalanta. I've got a few mythology books on hold at the library now, too. I would definitely recommend this book to kids interested in mythology. Honestly, I'd recommend it to adults, too.
Thanks to DK Publishing and Netgalley for the review copy.
